ZareenFarooqui wrote a very interesting article on Harry Potter Text Analysis in which she used Python to do some text analyses comparing the seven Harry Potter Novels. I highly recommend you check her article out.

First, I sourced .txt files of the seven Harry Potter novels online, used BASH to concatenate them into a single .txt file and then used Notepad++ to remove metadata, chapter numbers, and perform some basic analyses.

I counted the total number of words in the file (1,112,028) and set about building a corpus of Harry Potter fanfiction of similar length. For this, I searched ArchiveOfOurOwn.org for the most popular works of Harry Potter and scraped the first 20 using a Python script which also converted them to individual text files. Using BASH I counted the words in each file and selected the 17 that most closely matched the total word count of the Harry Potter novels, ending up with 1,110,349 words in a single .txt file.

Note: This will probably be an easier read on either my Obsidian Publish site (better code readability) or my Quartz site (lightmode version) over reading it here on the forum, so I highly suggest you read it on either of those. Ultimately up to you where you decide to read this. Some parts have been truncated as the forum post has a character limit (which means most Templates and the regex portion at the end have been removed).

The fields that go into an entry depend on the type of Medium it is. The fields are the same across the board so that when I query for the Current Page and avoiding adding every variation of that field name to cover my bases.

It used to be LGBT Rating but Supercharged Links had trouble with recognizing the difference between this and the personal Rating. It would end up changing Rating as well if I set a value for LGBT, so LGBT Rating had to be changed.

Medium is the type of media the item is (ie. Literature, Comic, Movie, etc.). This is a field on every item page as it allows me to use the Supercharged Links plugin and assign an icon to that item based on whatever is in that field.

Left Sidebar has the Search at the top so that I can easily query for something within my vault. Below that is the File Explorer so that I can browse through some of the files in my setup if I need to fix something, mostly I need to open either the 00 Technical or the 10 Meta folders quite often.

Most of these pages are just full of dataview queries, but the ones that I do include here are ones with either notable formatting or useful dataview queries. There is also some use of the Obsidian Query Language to generate the total number of files related to that note.

Medium is where I specify if the book is non-fiction or fiction. It was just easiest to place there as I put that specification in the Medium page that Supercharged Links helps me select from.

Fandom is a link to a specific page that has the title of the Original work is based on. This is similar to the Property field and could honestly be replaced by it, but I wanted a page where I could specifically query only fanfiction content about this particular work. The Fandom page is formatted nearly the same as the Fanfiction page itself.

I just change the description to my rating so that I can easily remember what I thought of it begin to fill out my page when I eventually add it in. I also tag it with the type of media it is so I can embed it with the correct filter for the page. For example: #Fanfiction or #Movie

In the settings for the plugin I just Add a New Property Manager with all the fields that I want to target and then point the file path to the specific md file in the 10 Meta/0 Tags folder.

My styling at least for the Category Links themselves didnt really use Supercharged Links, but the type of medium a note belonged to definitely used the Target Attribute for Styling to assign the icons.

dvl will result in the list being spaced out and now have a background on it. If you have kanban, dvl in the cssclass, it will format it in the same style as the image for the Queue Page or the example from the Medium Pages section.

Getting the data off Notion was luckily pretty easy. I just exported to CSVs and I was pretty much set. Later on, I also exported to HTML because that option also takes any of the photos I had inside Notions database pages with it. Saved me the pain of trying to reopen every single item and copying/saving every photo to transfer it over.

Within Obsidian, I had Mermaid Charts to help me plan what kind of information should go into them, where, and why should that be there. What types of fields I decided to include or omit will be covered in more detail later, but for now the heavy focus was on designing my tagging system.

The Battle of Dromund Kaas was the final decisive battle of the Galactic War between the Sith Empire and the Galactic Republic, resulting in the fall of the Imperial capital and the deaths of most of its remaining leaders. Since the Sith Emperor went into slumber in 3,640 BBY, his Empire had been suffering a series of defeats and saw most of its gains made against the Republic during the Great Galactic War decades earlier reversed, reduced to a small number of sectors near the Unknown Regions. The Republic Strategic High Command decided to launch the final strike that would finish the war in 3,637 BBY following several failed Imperial counter-offensives. The target was Dromund Kaas, the capital of the Empire. A fleet of Republic warships attacked the defending Imperial Armada in orbit of Dromund Kaas while Republic ground forces, led by hundreds of Jedi, landed on the surface and besieged Kaas City itself. The operation was under overall command of Grand Master Satele Shan and Supreme Commander Jace Malcom.

The assault began as planned, with the Republic Navy attacking the amassed Imperial fleet as the Army landed and secured a foothold on the surface of Dromund Kaas. The Republic slowly gained the advantage in orbit by destroying many of the Imperial dreadnoughts, allowing the fleet to provide assistance to its ground troops. Meanwhile, Republic troopers fought in fierce close-quarters combat, capturing Kaas City block by block. Jedi led the Republic advance and clashed with the Sith defenders, allowing the Republic troops to eventually reach the Imperial Citadel. After most of the Sith leaders were slain or forced to flee and the Imperial supreme commander, Grand Marshal Arkos Rakton, was killed, the remaining Imperial defenders were defeated. With the situation in both theaters taking a turn for the worse for the Empire, Darth Acina (one of the few surviving Dark Council members) gave the permission for the surviving ships of the Imperial Fleet to withdraw and regroup at nearby Jaguada.

The defeat was a crippling final blow to the Sith Empire, which was on the verge of collapse with the death of much of the ruling Dark Council and the continued disappearance of the Emperor. Darth Acina proclaimed herself Empress of the Sith, with the surviving leaders of the Empire's civilian bureaucracy and Navy backing her claim, including Minister of Logistics Rudor Cappenvarra and Grand Admiral Yasorion Elakati. However, her rule was immediately challenged by numerous upstarts and plunged what remained of the missing Emperor's crumbling domain into civil war. Thus the Republic was able to conduct peace negotiations with the new Empress on favorable terms, bringing the Galactic War to an end.

With the recent victories by the Galactic Republic, and open discontent among the citizenry of the Empire (such as the New Empire movement), and the disappearance of Sith Emperor Vitate, it was clear to everyone that the end of the Galactic War was near. The Sith Empire was barely managing to defend itself and exhausted its military in failed counteroffensives. In 3637 BBY, the leadership of the Republic Military and the Jedi High Council began jointly planning a final decisive blow to the Empire that would end the war: an assault on Dromund Kaas, the Imperial capital. With the size of Imperial space dwindling by the month, only the sectors near the borders with the Unknown Regions were still under the Empire's control. The earliest drafts of the invasion plan were written as early as 3638 BBY. It called for a large fleet of warships to engage the Imperial Armada defending the planet and secure an area of space around Dromund Kaas which could be used by transports to ferry ground troops to the surface. The ground contingent would be led by more than a hundred Jedi, who would eliminate the defending Sith, and would also detain or kill the remaining members of the Dark Council.

Understanding the gravity of the situation, the High Command organized a large Republic strike force was that consisted of some of the most experienced and hardened troops of the Republic Army, while the Navy recalled squadrons from throughout the galaxy to assemble a large armada. In total the Republic invasion force included two million troops and outnumbered the Imperial Fleet in space 3 to 1. It was placed under the direct command of Jedi Master Satele Shan, with Supreme Commander Jace Malcom in command of the landing force and Admiral Malik leading the fleet. Fleet Admiral Oteg, also a Jedi Master, was present but he was given command of the experimental superdreadnought Republic which was dispatched to the battle largely as a field test.

The Republic fleet, under Admiral Malik, led the Republic attack in 3637 BBY, entering the Dromund system and engaging the Imperial Armada. Malik's first action was to clear space for troop transports to deploy the ground forces, which he did by focusing the fleet's superior firepower on one of the Imperial dreadnoughts, the Tyrant. Its commander, Admiral Davrill Vor, was killed when it was destroyed. But the attack bought enough time to prevent the Imperials from focusing on the transports. The Republic Navy then closed the distance between the two fleets and deployed its starfighters for close combat, and the Imperial navy responded the same way. Ironically, Malik's flagship, the Fist of the Republic, was among the first casualties because of this; destroyed by concentrated fire from Imperial warships as it released its fighter squadrons, which it did too soon. The Republic's supreme flagship then became the Valiance, with command of the fleet going to Admiral Kastroff. Imperial fighter squadrons took heavy losses however in their attempts to destroy the attacking Republic capital ships.
