Itis possible in Primavera P6 Professional to print a PDF file of the schedule activities table and Gantt chart. This works great to present schedule status to stakeholders. Sometimes, however, stakeholders want to review tabulated data of schedule progress. Primavera P6 reporting can produce tabulated reports of schedule progress through its report feature.

This figure plots the activities table and Gantt chart, which is a very useful plot to present to stakeholders. If, however, your stakeholders want tabulated data we must use the reports feature in Primavera P6 to generate a suitable tabulated report.

Two of our schedule activities use steps, so we want the report to tabulate the steps progress on these activities. After moving activity steps to the selected subjects area frame click next, which brings us to configure selected subject areas, Figure 6.

Now we do not have to do anything for Group and Sort, but to make certain the group and sort does not have a group by criteria click group & sort. As expected, the group and sort has no group by criteria, Figure 8.

Note the steps for the mobilize activity. The mobilize steps are complete. Also observe that activity W1060 Set Foundation is 80% complete. The project management activity that spans the duration of the project is 30.71% complete. After you review your tabulated report and it looks agreeable click save report, Figure 16.

The Primavera P6 Professional report wizard provides step by step dialogs for generating a tabulated schedule progress report. Tabulated reports maybe previewed, sent to a printer, attached in an email, or saved to an ASCII text file.

The ASCII text file option generates an Excel spreadsheet of the schedule. This spreadsheet may be used to support team member input for schedule progress. You may for instance have team members populate the spreadsheet with activity % complete, remaining duration, or, possibly, expected finish date columns. The spreadsheet is a good way to solicit team member schedule progress input. Manually enter the spreadsheet data into Primavera P6.

Generating reports in Oracle P6 is an amazing, efficient way of maintaining control and oversight in your project. The potential report combinations in Oracle P6 can easily compile into the hundreds, if not more when considering custom reports.

Although powerful, these reporting capabilities are useless if you do not know which reports will generate the greatest insight. To help make these decisions and increase your productivity, try to stick with the top five most common reports in Oracle Primavera P6.

If you generate a functional group summary report, you will be able to see all of the planned activities for a given role. This allows you to better understand what staff members will be needed for what purpose.

Furthermore, the most important aspects of your project are defined on this chart with a red bar. As a result, you will be able to prevent catastrophic delays to your project, which is essential to maintaining your expected deadline.

This report is specified to a given project range, such as the district in which your project takes place, and allows you to review all planned activities, as well as potential activities. Ultimately, this report focuses on combining the planned with the unplanned aspects of your projects into one arena.

Occasionally, the relationships between corresponding project activities may be hidden when generating a baseline Gantt layout chart. If you run a baseline relationships report, you will be able to identify the logistic patterns between similar activities. For example, the lowest level of the work breakdown structure will be evident, and the logic for that specific work breakdown structure is listed in immediately afterwards.

The next line indicates the activity that will occur before the project activities you have currently selected, and the subsequent line identifies what activity will succeed that project activity. Furthermore, you will be able to see how these nearby activities relate in start and finish time to your selected activity, and the owner of the given activity will be identified.

Identifying baseline relationships is useless if your project includes hundreds, if not thousands, of the smaller activities within a single month. This report will identify what planned activities have a 60-day or less total float and can be started within the next 90 days. Therefore, you can alter your schedule to ensure adequate staff and resources are available for projects beyond the scope of smaller reports.

Knowing what report to use in Oracle Primavera P6 is a critical part of creating a viable schedule. By knowing and using these top five reports, you can improve the productivity and efficiency of your project management team and keep your schedule accurate and reflective of project expectations.

you have multiple options either using SQL , DAX or PowerQuery, for Powerquery here is an excellent resource by the Imke Feldmann , for our example I am using DAX , the canonical reference is by Marco Russo

the two tables are connected by the field wbs_id, we added another copy of the table TASK as a dimension table for reporting ( just activity id, and activity name), and we have this simple data model, I like to save measures in a separate dummy tables

as you can see, building a data model is relatively easy, the complexity start when you want to add more measures, for example, total float, you need to connect to the table CALENDAR, if you want cost, you need to connect to other tables, and if you want spread it will become a little trickier ( hint it is not saved in the database)

hopefully by now, instead of asking how to connect to Primavera Database, the interesting question become, in which table the data is saved and how to join two separate tables to get the report you want

Oracle Primavera P6 is a very flexible and comprehensive add-on that can be used to meet all your reporting needs. Thanks to its many disclosure options, results can be widely used in all organizations. Therefore, the added value of effective project management helps to achieve the goals of the organization.

You can print the PDF file in the schedule table and in the Gantt chart of Primavera P6 Professional. This helps Clients and Engineers to visualize the status of the system. However, prospective customers may look at the table data on the planning progress. Primavera P6 Reporting can send tabular progress reports via its reporting component.

Professional Primavera P6 users often need to be informed about the progress of their plans. The Primavera P6 reports support improved performance reports. This article shows you how to use the Primavera P6 custom report generation and saving of Layouts for detailed project management work.

Using the P6 project demonstration file, open the Primavera Gantt chart in Figure 1 above. With the Primavera P6, it may take some time for your activity chart and Gantt Diagram to appear suitable for display and/or layout. These amendments can be saved and used to report on other projects in the future.

According to Figure 1 (sample project), we want to preserve and maintain this structure for use in other projects or open it next time. First, we remember the order of processes as follows. Select the Layout drop-down menu, Figure 2.

As above figure 1 shows the activity table and the Gantt chart, which is a very useful plot to present to customers. However, if your customer wants table data, we need to use the reporting feature of Primavera P6 to generate an appropriate table report.

Please note the above-mentioned information base for sample items only. You can select it as per your requirement. For example, we use resource loading in our planning activities in this chosen project, which is why we want to include resource information in our schedule. When the source activity moves the selected topic area into the frame, click Next, which brings us to the selection of the chosen topic areas as per Figure 13.

Then we do not have to do anything to group and sort, but to make sure the group and sorting do not have a group based on criteria, click on the group and sort. As expected, the group and sorting do not have a group based on criteria as per figure 15.

As per Figure 16, no filter is required in our case. But if you need to do any filter items according to your requirement, then you can use this facility. Now we have almost finished configuring actions for the print report. Now remaining the final configuration steps. But in this case, we need to again modify of highlighted steps as below figure 17 and click the columns again to view our final Resource loading report.

Following the same above procedure can be repeated for your own items to meet your project requirements or customer requirements/reports. Furthermore, you can save the specified Report as per figure 24.

The Primavera P6 layout feature is a valuable tool. You can create multiple different layouts and save them under Project, Global, or Current User. You can use the already saved Layouts when producing reports from your projects. Layouts save time to create reports for a project that is regularly updated. Project Layouts can be easily exported or imported to a Primavera P6 project file.

Primavera P6 Professional Reporting Wizard includes a step-by-step dialog box to create a status report schema. Spreadsheets can be viewed, sent to a printer, sent via email, or saved to a text file. The text file option creates an Excel spreadsheet. This table can be used to process group member data for table design data. For example, employees can fill out a spreadsheet with actual project data, physical & financial date, status, estimated end dates, actual resource datasets, cash flow data, etc.
