Bingo group members:

You have just received notice of several new pages being added to the Bingo Google Group (formal address http://groups.google.com/group/consolidated-identity). I added these as action items coming out of the IC3 session held at IIW East last Friday in Washington D.C.

The first new page contains the notes from this session: http://groups.google.com/group/consolidated-identity/web/iiw-ic3-session-notes

The second page contains a list of the steps we need to take to turn IC3 into a reality: http://groups.google.com/group/consolidated-identity/web/who-what-when

Mary Ruddy and Kaliya Hamlin are signed up for the majority of tasks, so if you want to volunteer to help them, please do.

We plan to use this Bingo group to drive forward this whole process, and to do it openly and transparently in full view of not just Identity Commons participants/stewards, but also Kantara participants/staff board members (for example, Joni Brennan, Trent Adams, and Matthew Gardiner are on the list). We feel this is very important to avoid some of the misunderstandings that have happened in the past, and to ensure that anyone who cares strongly about this process and the outcome has the ability to be heard. Therefore if there is anyone else in your organization, or in any other organization, that you believe should be on this list, please invite them. Paul has made Mary, Kaliya, and myself co-managers of the group so we can all approve additional participants.

As the Who What When page emphasizes, we want to use the next IIW, Nov 2-4 in Mountain View, CA, as the forcing function to get IC3 done and up and running with its first sponsors. We invite your help. Please post any questions/suggestions/feedback, or contact us individually if you need to.

Thanks,

=Drummond

Assuming it's time to open the discussion and make it transparent, is
there a reason not to make the list public?

It's a good question, Trent. Originally the list was for faciliating a private conversation about the evolution of the space. Now we've reached the point where there is a general consensus about what we want to achieve, so the list is more about facilitating the steps that need to be taken to reach that goal.

I personally have no objection to making the list public as long as membership is moderated to avoid spam (Google Groups with open membership can have real issues with spam).

How do others feel?

BTW, I don't know if you can convert a non-public Google Group to a public group (never had to do it before), so it may require creating a new group.

I'm pretty sure all you have to do is go in to the group settings under access and flip the first switch "who can view content" = anybody.  Under "who can post messages" keep it set to Members. I'd be +1 for moving public.

thx
