It has been pointed out that in many jurisdictions contributions need to be framed as membership fees in order to be deductable. If this is an issue for you, it would be great if you could provide details about the specific requirements.

By way of clarification, sponsorship is not membership. If you are paying a membership that is deductible under domestic US tax law. If you are paying a sponsorship (which may be a significantly larger contribution), talk with your CPA or tax advisor about how you should go about obtaining any tax deduction, if available. Don't ask IDC ... we are not tax experts.

Subject: [bingo] IC3 - draft Directed Donation form
Attached is a draft document for making a directed donation.
Tony,
The proposal is 80%. What are your thoughts?
-Mary
Seems a little high but don’t know the current burden of IC3
The current IC overhead is very low. Areas where we have been requested to provide additional core services include accounting and international legal services. The percentage that goes to the actual directed donation could be higher if IC had a separate donation of legal expertise or it were decided that we didn’t need to hire international counsel. So it is really what the community decides.
