Does Inventor Pro 2018 support windows 10 home edition 64 bit . Cause my customer already has that installed and is asking if he has to upgrade to windows 10 professional or he can continue using the Windows 10 64 bit home edition
I am a student and new to inventor and have used it on a previous school computer, however it will not install on a new computer i just purchased. I have zero idea why it fail, but have attached the Installation Log File. I would greatly appreciate any help that you're willing to provide. Thanks so much in advance!!
Download and install per:
1. Access the Autodesk Virtual Agent (link is in my signature) and follow the download links to your product.
2. Download all of the parts (some applications only have a single part to download) for your product first. Do not continue until all of the parts have fully downloaded.
3. Navigate to your download folder location and extract (double click) part _001_00X.sfx.exe (or the single file download).
4. In a few seconds the extraction will start and prompt you to extract to C:\Autodesk.
5. Once the extraction is finished, the installation will automatically start.
6. Follow the installation steps for your product

Good luck on your installation.
I'm trying to install inventor 2017 and on the installation screen it shows autodesk inventor 17 and the revit failed. How do I fix this? I went thru your link to download with browser. Thanks for the help.
So I would recommend uninstalling all version of the Visual C++ Redistributable on your machine (Windows Control Panel/Add&Remove programs) and then restart the installation again so that it can put them back on. Most likely you have a newer version than the installer needs. Report back on your progress.

However if the installation does fail using this method, please post your installation log file here so we can review it. Posting info: Sometimes installation log files contain personal information such as your serial #. Prior to posting your log file please make sure to remove such info.
Although you were probably unaware of this, but when you post or share stuff here, please make sure it doesn't include your personal information such as your serial #. This is a world wide user forum and that type of info should not be included in your posting. Granted the installation log file helped us to determine your root cause (but it did contain your serial #)... So in the future remove or blur it out before posting. I will have the moderator remove it in order to protect your information.
I have the issue with windows C++ redistributable failing to install, I tried uninstalling it through control panel and that fixed nothing. I also tried during it through install agent and the initzialing bar doesn't move then it just closes.
Without your installation log file we can only speculate what the issue at this point. Posting info: Sometimes installation log files contain personal information such as your serial #. Prior to posting your log file please make sure to remove such info.
1. Clean out your personal temp (%temp%) folder. Set Windows UAC to never notify, full admin rights and if possible disable your Anti-Virus/Malware scanning utilities. Also the download should occur over a hard wired connection to the Internet and not over WIFI.
3. Download all of the parts (some applications only have a single part to download) for your product first. Do not continue until all of the parts have fully downloaded.

7. Follow the installation steps for your product. At this point you could cancel the installation or create a deployment.

Mark, your suggestions sadly did not help in my case. I've even gone so far as to try it on a completely fresh Win10 install with UAC and Windows Defender disabled - still the genskf.exe window appears and progress bars stop filling.
I have Inventor Professional 2010. I upgraded MS Windows 7 Pro to Windows10 last week and now Inventor will not work. AutoCad will work OK. The message I recieve when I attempt to load Inventor is: The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000142). Click OK to close the application.
What about a patch for Inventor 2015? Been struggling with an AutoDesk representative (case#11451510) who has not been able to get me a link/fix/patch to make inventor 15 work with windows10 32bit. AutoCAD works 10 times faster with windows10 and I do NOT wish to go back.
In the future I would recommend creating a new posting describing your issue with Inventor 2015 and Windows 10 32B instead of replying to a posting that is related to Inventor 2010 and Windows 10. Not the same subject matter..
I tried installing Inventor without compatibility mode and it stops at the Pre-installation checks window. It detects unsupported version of Windows there. I've googled the problem and there are basically two kinds of answers:
Drill down to the inventor setup.exe file in the bin\ directory on the cd and it will not run the os detection and will install just fine. That's not saying that the program will run flawlessly once installed.
Inventor11 runs on windows7 in compatibility mode. Only the installation has a problem:it must to install WITHOUT the content center because it is based on win2000 and not accepted in win7. I tried to install the program in different methods, it was succesful on win7 32 bit and without content center. The only thing is strange that we have problem with the videocard despite of it is an nVidia 3450/4000 SDI card: there are strange shadows appear on the drawing area when we work with assemblies. The Pc is a Dell workstation.
When the end user attempts to open Inventor professional, the window will only partially open at the bottom of the screen. The user cannot expand the window to full screen, and can only see the top part of the program with the ribbon barely showing.
We never figured out what was actually wrong with the program, but we did find out how we could fix it. We opened up two instances of inventor professor, open the task manager and on inventor.exe we ended the process tree.
