Note: For most 2022 and later products for Windows, you can configure your product in Autodesk Account before you install. For most product releases earlier than 2022, you download the installer and then customize during installation.

From what I've read, AutoCAD vertical products are basically AutoCAD with some discipline-specific modules and customization on top of it. (Or are they? For example, I read this and still feel a bit confused, especially due to @pendean's mention that the acad.exe files for each vertical aren't exactly the same. Also, I don't know if that discussion still applies to current versions of AutoCAD, since it's a bit old. By the way, I checked my ACA desktop shortcuts and they target acad.exe in a folder called "AutoCAD 2019", not "AutoCAD Architecture 2019", which seems to suggest that nowadays all flavors of AutoCAD installed on the same computer will call the same acad.exe file, albeit with different arguments.)

Thus, my actual question is this: is there any way to get a vertical product like AutoCAD Architecture to run *exactly* like plain AutoCAD? Or is the solution necessarily to install plain AutoCAD?

If memory serves, back at the time of those posts (mid-2007), the 2008 and earlier versions of AutoCAD Architecture and AutoCAD MEP installed in separate folders, each with its own acad.exe. I do not recall exactly when that changed, but from at least 2014 and newer, that is not the case; there is a "core" AutoCAD installation and the additional modules required for AutoCAD Architecture and AutoCAD MEP install in subfolders under the AutoCAD 20xx folder, and all use the same acad.exe file.

If you have the licensing, you can install AutoCAD side-by-side with AutoCAD Architecture and AutoCAD MEP. If you install AutoCAD first, the other two installations go faster, as they do not need to install the core AutoCAD content. I have never taken the time to verify if an AutoCAD Architecture "as AutoCAD" session was 100% identical to an AutoCAD session for the same release, as I rarely run plain AutoCAD. But from what I have seen, other than still having the initial Splash Screen and the program name at the top of the window still say AutoCAD Architecture when running the "as AutoCAD" profile, it seems the same as running plain AutoCAD.

Try and re-download the installer from AVA (Autodesk Virtual Agent) or from your Autodesk accounts portal with alternative download methods: Download Now or Browser Download. See the details in: Installation Failed - Result = 1619.

Terribly sorry for not responding, had to deal with personal issues, now that i am back i still yet to get AutoCAD to work, when i tried installing it, I guess the previous version still exists some where on my computer that I can't find.

I have installed Autocad 2014 into my New PC. What I need now is to ask for an activation code. But I have problem looking for help in autodesk. . Anyone here can send me email or Phone number to call.

If your New PC was running Windows 7, and I doubt it is, then it might be possible. W7, however, is no longer supported by Microsoft and that means other new programs (or newer than 2014) such as Adobe, Chrome, MS Office, etc. that you install alongside W7 will not run either.

Autodesk stopped authorizing new installation of software 2010 and older as of August 2019: You are too late now.

If you still have an old PC running AutoCAD2014 you can keep using it forever or for as long as that lasts. Also check out this tip from another user for an alternative, it may or may not work (I did not try it)

TLDR summary: You paid for the product. But not for support, not free downloads forever either. You are responsible yourself for keeping your old system going nd maintaining copies of the installers too. Autodesk did not promise much more. Sorry. Not much we end user griping about it will change the realities above.

You paid for a program that worked on Windows XP, support for that would include making any changes for the program to continue working on Windows 7 thru 10, that would be a very expensive proposition indeed and one you can't reasonably expect a software developer to keep up with. Your program should work on your old computer for as long as that computer lives (do you have your original XP installed on your new computer or did you pay for a new OS)?

I need to install some AutoCAD products. Why are there 3 ways to do this. What are the pros and cons of each way. Also I would like to know the preferred way so to get the least amount of installation issues.

I found the fix for this issue. Suprisingly when you try to install the product offline (running the setup.exe without and internet connection) the window doesnt disappear and actually installs. However for deployment you will need the an internet connection, this got me thinking that the installation process does try to reach out to the servers to check for any new versions available.

Hi! We support AutoCAD versions 2017 and up so your set up should not be an issue. Can you check to see if you have the following folder C:\Program Files\Autodesk\ApplicationPlugins ?

If not you will have to recreate that folder manually or reinstall AutoCAD as this is the folder ArcGIS for AutoCAD installs into.

I was having the same issue installing AutoCAD for ArcGIS 400.2 with AutoCAD 2019 installed. Previously Version 370 installed without any issues. I created the folder that @Randy_Garcia mentioned, then 400.2 installed just fine, and the ArcGIS ribbon loaded in AutoCAD. Thanks!

Hi @MicheleInserra , I just had occasion to uninstall AutoCAD (2022) and ArcGIS for AutoCAD (410) and reinstall both and everything installed correctly for me. I am not sure if that is an option for you.

AutoCAD or AutoCAD LT 2018 or later: Because the AutoCAD web app saves drawings to the AutoCAD 2018 file format, Open in Desktop is only supported if your installed version of AutoCAD is version 2018 or later.

I would like to inform you about installing AutoCAD Plant 3D 2022 Object Enabler above AutoCAD Plant 3D 2022.1.2. It will show as installed but will not be visible in the Windows > Control Panel > Programs and Features. Also, it will affect the AutoCAD Plant 3D objects to appear as wireframes in Navisworks Models.
