Montreal, Qc. and Alexandria, Virginia, April 15, 2002- CINAR Corporation, and the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) are pleased to announce that they have reached an agreement to produce 16 new episodes of the popular preschool series, CAILLOU. The new episodes, to air on PBS in January 2003, join the existing 40 CAILLOU programs currently airing Monday through Friday on PBS KIDS.

"We are thrilled to be bringing new CAILLOU episodes in partnership with PBS to preschoolers. The 16 new episodes, which brings our total to 56 half-hours for the series, will help to further extend the CAILLOU experience to families", said Louis Fournier, CINAR's recently appointed Head of Distribution.

"With its endearing adventures and gentle life lessons, CAILLOU has proven to be one of the most popular preschool series on PBS KIDS," said John F. CAILLOU (pronounced KA-YOU) presents a unique combination of animation, puppets, music, dance, and live action and chronicles the adventures of a little boy as he bravely encounters the infinite miracles and dilemmas of four-year-old life. Based on the series of best-selling children's books, the stories address real problems and conflicts typical of a young child's development. Since premiering on PBS KIDS in September 2000, CAILLOU has been named "one of the best new preschool series to come along in years" by Child magazine, has garnered two Parents' Choice Awards and, as of January 2001, has consistently ranked among the top eight children's programs in all of television, among kids aged 2-5*
