So many thanks with all the great responses, I have been messing with different memcache setups and various things in this install, so will go for another clean install and check the outlook.com then try gmail@work again.
Prob have to do some reading as its not a @gmail.com domain but uses gmail.

Also just as a trial not done any of the database or php config its all default php7.0
No # Header always set Strict-Transport-Security "max-age=15768000; preload" as you will see its remarked out.
No mem cache or redis either, I did have redis only as a distributed mem cache as it complained like hell but that was just another trial.

Connected straight away and the mail app is very much like the PDF viewer, excellent app, really good.
The initial sync took about 30 secs, the initial swirl to open inbox about 5 and the current message 10 secs max.

Hey Stuart, i was having similar troubles, as i use two step verification on my google account. The way that i got the nextcloud emailing feature to work was to make an app specific password for my nextcloud server by going to my google account settings and adding the application. Google then creates a password, which i used for the nextcloud server login (while keeping my typical username credentials the same). i hope this works for you too.

Also if you are sane and maybe just use a normal landscape monitor, it would be great if the mail app could buffer a page of emails, so it is one page in front.
To scroll down to the bottom of the emails and then grab the next page makes the mail app quite slow to use, but that is only a small quibble.

Here are the steps I documented to configure the NextCloud eMail app to work with GMail. I had similar issues on multiple GMail accounts, and these various scenarios helped me work through them. Hopefully they will help you.

I have the same issue, impossible to connect to gmail.
I have less secure app enable, simple password, imap is open.
It should work, but it doesnt, someone is able to make it work with gmail or is it not possible ?

Hi.We just installed a new dedicated server with virtualmin.We created our first domain and everything works fine.The problem is we need to connect the email we just created with email clients like outlook.com (hotmail.com), gmail, outlook express etc.Let's say we have mydomain.compop3 server configuration:mail.mydomain.com -> 110 without secure connectionsmpt server configuration:mail.mydomain.com 0-> with ssl connection (25/465/587)

We have tried everything but nothing works. We always get either pop3 mail server problem (with 995 and ssl or without) either smpt mail server problem.Do we need to configure something in admin area?

And so far as I can tell, Virtualmin won't do this, because Virtualmin always assumes that users always connect to their own domains. I think you will need to manually install the SSL certificate in this case.

One way of doing the above would be to let Virtualmin install the SSL certificate for a user's domain, call it example.com, into the mail daemons. Then search for the entry for that, and manually replace it with one for the SSL certificate for server.domain1.com or for *.domain1.com.

This assumption within Virtualmin, that each user connects to his own domain for email, and not to the underlying server, has led to a lot of confusion. I think in the next release they should simply have everybody connect to the server's name. All the big guys do it this way. If you put your website and email on Google Apps for Domains, you DO NOT connect your IMAP4 client to your own domain for email, you connect it to the name of Google's server.

I create dummy SSL enabled virtual servers for my mail server domain and my Webmin/Virtualmin server domain (e.g. mail.mailhosting.com & admin-v1.webhosting.com) then use the SSL management tools in Server Config for CSRs etc (or set up Let's encrypt for my Webmin virtual servers to periodically get me new certs). All I need to do is remember to click the appropriate [ Copy to Webmin ] [ Copy to Usermin ] [ Copy to Dovecot ] [ Copy to Postfix ] buttons every 2-3 months (or longer if it's a purchased cert).Note-I have nothing to do with webhosting.com or mailhosting.com - just using them as examples.

I've been trying to setup a notification email alert using gmail or outlook and it won't accept TLS "secure remote connection cant be established". I also tried STARTTLS port 587 and plaintext port 25 and it always complain about the smpt setting (smtp.gmail.com & smtp-mail.outlook.com for outlook). Please help!

Hi Oluser, thanks for reaching out. Typically, the versions saved on the client are distinct from the ones on the server. You will still want to make backups to be safe.
I would advise that you check the documentation for their mail client.

I recommend contacting your third-party email service to determine the settings you need to configure in your Gmail account. You can still use this guide to assist you with the steps, however, you will need the settings from your provider.

It looks like the MX records for edsgroup.com.my point to an IP owned by Serverfreak Technologies. You would need to contact them to see what errors they are seeing in the mail server logs. If you have a bounceback message you can post that here aswell and we can see if we can give you any more details.

Hi. I set up my Yahoo inbox on my Gmail account. My question is: if I manage my emails from my Yahoo inbox using Gmail.com (for example, deleting an email or putting it in a label), will the changes made also appear on Yahoo.com? If not, how do I make the changes reflect on Yahoo.com? Also, at the moment, my Gmail has the same content as my Yahoo account. How do I see the content of the original Gmail account? I linked multiple webmail account to a single webmail account (Forwarded mails), and then linked that single webmail to my gmail account. The challenge am facing is that the central webmail account is refusing to retain mails coming from the other mails, which make it impossible for the gmail to fetch any mail coming from the central mail. What do l do to fix this problem

I have a remote contract employee that asked to use gmail as the email clent opposed to a company supplied version of Outlook for Mac. I was successful in setting up the company POP account alongside her own personal IMAP Gmail account but now run into the problem of running out of storage space on the POP (company) account. I need a solution that deletes the message on the server after a day but cannot find one. This employee also uses an Android cell for mail, perhaps the solution lies in there?

By default, I dont recommend using POP protocol for business emails. Basically, POP pulls the email down off the email server during the initial connection and marks it for deletion on the server. This is bad for a number of reasons. First, the email can only be checked from the one device and once the email is pulled down to that device its no longer on the server. If this device is damaged or lost/stolen all the business emails are gone and cannot be retrieved. Secondly, any email replies (sent emails) are stored locally on that device as well. What then happens if the employee leaves and you need to retrieve the email? Now, since you mentioned the email account was running out of storage it sounds as if you have changed the default settings and storing it on the server. That stops the issues above but now you have a space issue. Can you increase the email limits on the account? For business purposes, especially with a contract employee, be cautious about removing emails. Is there a chance, after the contract is up, that you will need those emails?

recently my collegues hosting service was changed and her gmail that was attached to their mail server it stopped working. Her collegues in Aus who still use gmail are able to continue using it.My freind is in Nz and she and her peeps are totallly in the dark as to wh they cant use gmail again. Meanwhile i have just set up their email client to work from their webmail and trying to figure out why i cant point her webmail to gmail. They have used their emails through email only for all these years until last month when the hosting service chnaged

Make sure that you are using the correct email settings for SSL provided by InMotion. You can confirm these in cPanel under the email section. Also, make sure to use the full username, e.g. [email protected].

The POP3 format downloads the emails from your server, so if they come into your company server, gmail removed them when it checks the mail. You would need an IMAP in order to keep the emails on your sever. Unfortunately, Gmail does not support IMAP importing. The closest you could get would be to remove the POP3 setup for Gmail and set up a forwarder from your company email to Gmail. Though with that setup, you would not be able to send email from Gmail as your company. You would have to log into the company email to send them.

To send mail as one of your imported accounts, you can select the account when composing a message. Or, you can select that email as default under Accounts and Import. Do any of those work?

Just found out that we cannot use SSL connections when using GMAIL to send email because servers here are using self signed certificates. This forces customers who use the GMAIL interface to manage their emails to use insecure methods to send email.

I am delete the pop3 account from gmail, and retun to use my webmail, but there are no items in my webmail inbox. How to move back my webmail inbox items from pop3 added gmail. My gmail accout still have my inbox emails of my webmail, please help me

All our servers have IMAP/SMTP enabled by default. You will need to use standard email settings. If you are certain that those are set and still not working, you may want to contact your carrier to check the software.

If you are getting an error about username or password being incorrect, be sure to check those. It may be that the two services are not syncing right, but more often it is a syntactical error when entering the data. Be sure they are correct and then test again.
