Covid19 highlighted how important it is to promote local health and ensure proximity to the patient. How is it possible to pursue this objective also in inland areas, mountain areas or small islands? How is it possible to guarantee equity of treatment and excellence in care even for citizens who live far from large welfare centers? This seasonal school is dedicated to this theme. The ways in which to analyze the needs of a territory and the possible implementable technological and organizational solutions will be analyzed.

PROREMOTE will introduce participants to the urgent topic of proximity-care through a dialogue between social, experimental and life sciences. Students will be involved, through different perspectives, on the issues inherent to the enhancement of quantitative and qualitative data, and organizational models for local areas, as useful information for decision makers and service managers to support the innovation of services and of the social protection net of the analysed contexts, starting from the example of Valle del Serchio. At the end of the Seasonal School, participants will develop a comprehensive view and specific tools to support policy making to support proximity care in remote areas.

HANDdata is a dataset designed to provide hand kinematics and proximity vision data during reach to grasp actions of non-virtual objects, specifically tailored for autonomous grasping of a robotic hand, and with particular attention to the reaching phase. Thus, we sought to capture target object characteristics from radar and time-of-flight proximity sensors, as well as details of the reach-to-grasp action by looking at wrist and fingers kinematics, and at hand-object interaction main events. We structured the data collection as a sequence of static and grasping tasks, organized by increasing levels of complexity. HANDdata is a first-person, reach-to-grasp dataset that includes almost 6000 human-object interactions from 29 healthy adults, with 10 standardized objects of 5 different shapes and 2 kinds of materials. We believe that such data collection can be of value for researchers interested in autonomous grasping robots for healthcare and industrial applications, as well as for those interested in radar-based computer vision and in basic aspects of sensorimotor control and manipulation.

Proximity Care is the project funded by the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Lucca (with an investment of 5 million euros between 2022 and 2026) to promote the improvement of health, social and socio-health services in the "internal areas" of the province of Lucca.

The project stems from the awareness of the lack of quality services in the social-health field in conditions of proximity to the citizen, especially in the internal areas of Italy. In line with the provisions of the PNRR (National Plan for Recovery and Resilience), the project aims to develop "a new health strategy, supported by the definition of an adequate institutional and organizational structure, which allows Italy to achieve quality standards of care, in line with the best European countries".

The key concept of the project is the "proximity to the citizen", i.e. the ability to ensure in every part of the territory, the possibility to use services of excellence.

The project is divided into an initial study phase in which the types and efficiency of services and the potential for improvement in terms of connectivity and technological updating will be carefully verified.

The Proximity Care project must be able to offer answers, understood as best practices, measurable in terms of effectiveness, efficiency, sustainability and replicability in other areas, which will concern methodological and technological innovation, attention to the centrality of the patient and multidisciplinary approach. The scope of intervention concerns the right to health, to be understood in its broadest sense of social welfare, with regard to social care, health and social health, so as to make the Lucca area a reference model in the national panorama.

The project involves professors, researchers, postdoctoral fellows and PhD students from the various Institutes, working in different disciplinary fields, and also foresees the collaboration of the Azienda Toscana Nord Ovest (ATNO), the Region of Tuscany, the Research Center on the Third Sector "Maria Eletta Martini" and the Gabriele Monasterio Foundation.

The state of Missouri was organized in 1821 and Joseph Robidoux established the Blacksnake Hills trading post with the Indians in 1826. Robidoux's trading post soon became a fur-trading empire stretching to the southern Rocky Mountains. The Platte Purchase joined his land to the state of Missouri in 1837. Robidoux conveyed his land for public use in 1843, and the city of St. Joseph was incorporated in 1851. The town remained relatively small until the discovery of gold in California in 1848, which greatly altered and accelerated westward migration.

St. Joseph became the head water for the journey west as hundreds of thousands of settlers arrived by steamboat and hundreds of wagon trains lined the streets waiting to be ferried across the Missouri River. The covered wagons, oxen and supplies purchased by the emigrants established the economic foundation of the city.

Additional growth commenced in 1859, when the railroad reached St. Joseph assuring its role as a supply and distribution point to the entire western half of the country. St. Joseph's proximity to the Missouri River and accessibility by way of river, rail and land was to be the impetus for phenomenal growth throughout the nineteenth century.

Political tension leading up to the Civil War led to the establishment of the Pony Express in 1860, with St. Joseph becoming the eastern terminus. The war years were very difficult with divided loyalties and violence, but after 1865, recovery was rapid.

Principal channels of distribution were established in the 1870s with St. Joseph becoming a leading wholesale center for the building of the west. The 1880s and 1890s were the golden age of prosperity, whose mansions and traditions remain a part of the city.

In 1886, the Chicago Times reported that, St. Joseph is a modern wonder, a city of 60,000 inhabitants, eleven railroads, 70 passenger trains each day, 170 factories, thirteen miles of the best paved streets, the largest stockyards west of Chicago, a wholesale trade as large as that of Kansas City and Omaha combined... One count of the U.S. Census had the city's population at 102,000 in 1900.

Meat packing had been active in St. Joseph from the early days. With the opening of the St. Joseph Stockyards in 1887, and the opening of several new packing houses from then through 1923, St. Joseph became an important meat packing center, one of the leading sources of revenue of the city and its surrounding agricultural area. As the city grew and industries were established, neighborhoods developed in close proximity to the factories, stockyards and railroads.

The city of St. Joseph is the county seat of Buchanan County and the eighth largest city in Missouri with approximately 71,602 residents as of 2021. St. Joseph is the central service provider for a seven county area of northwest Missouri and northeast Kansas with a combined population of over 155,000.

His proximity to the in-crowd coupled with his outsider perspective created a dynamic that he later used to his advantage. He made the in-crowd his subjects. Some even became his conspirators. The weenie would get his revenge.

The Chelsea Girls consisted of twelve reels, each running thirty-three minutes. The projectionists mixed up the reels and changed the sound volume for each showing, guaranteeing the audience an original performance each time. The side-by-side projection style seems to have come from the repetitions Andy used in his silkscreens at the time and from the 1966 Exploding Plastic Inevitable rock-and-roll performance experience Andy had created with Paul Morrissey and the Velvet Underground. The mostly black-and-white film mixed with random color reels was like a machine gun of silk-screens, throwing frame after frame in front of the viewer.

Andy started his career illustrating for advertisements, so he was already making pop art and consequently looking at the world through a commercial lens. What is extraordinary is how this inside view of big business led to the creation of such a transgressive and outsider film.

Everything about an artist builds up into a ball and pushes itself out in a spurt, taking with it all the influences the artist has absorbed during his or her lifetime. Andy made pretty drawings and paintings of nude boys and pussycats that contained both simplicity and passive aggressive tones. He made endless silkscreens of soup cans and Coke bottles in mechanical infinitum. He made silent movies of people sitting in front of the camera doing nothing.
