, as they beat BlueKnights by 4 wickets in the Finals held yesterday. It was a high tension drama as the chase came down to the very last over.
Rushang was declared
MVP of the game for knocking down critical boundaries in the final overs.
Summary:
BlueKnights won the toss and elected to bat first. Although RailRiders bowling attack started off well constraining runrate to under 5 in first 8 overs, BlueKnights stepped up their game in the final overs. Bhagyesh picked up 3 wickets to slow down the run flow. It was a good team effort by BlueKnights batsmen Akhil, Sudeep and Kanhaiya that helped them put up a high total of 100 runs in 15 overs.Â
It's always high pressure to chase runrate of above 6, especially in a Finals game. BueKnights bowlers encashed this dismissing opening batsmen early in the game. Bhagyesh and Nagi built up a good partnership rotating strike. Nagi's boundaries put RailRiders in a comfortable position in the chase. Kiran bowled out Nagi and put a check to the run flow. Anish dismissed Bhagyesh (excellent keeper catch by Sudeep), and turned the game into BlueKnights favor. RailRiders were under intense pressure of scoring 36 runs in 4 overs. Rushang came as the savior, as he knocked down the much needed boundaries. Raj offered good support at the other end knocking down a couple of his own. With 2 runs to win of last 4 balls, Srikanth hit a square cut offside boundary, as rest of the RailRiders ran to the pitch to celebrate the championship!!
Special thanks to all our Railinc friends for your support on and off the field. Yesterday's cheer team:Â Â Hari, Praveen, Bhanu, MuraliB, Janu, Santhosh, Ganesh (sorry, I may have missed some in the excitement of winning).
It was a great season for RailRiders not only cuz we won the championship as debut team, but we all had lot of Fun as a team both on field and off field. I sincerely hope the RailRider team spirit continues and grows even bigger the coming season.Â
Till then enjoy the winter break and holidays with your family. After all we need to make it up to them for all the cricket times they missed us at home ;-)
Cheers.
