I just signed up for the "Cyber Monday" sale of this, at $8/unit.

Kickstarter (completed in May, $2M funding, page includes specs after a
lot of scrolling):

Certainly an initiative worth supporting and should be interesting to
play with. But then this happened:

So, the RPi Foundation are evidently not standing still and ignoring
the competition [1, 2]. All the better for us, the consumers. These
are getting to be pretty serious price points, hope to see the first
sub-$1 Linux SBC sometime in the next decade.

I
'm SO looking forward to the price dumping and innovation wars in this segment, it was ripe for it.

Today I'm feeling particularly good about our recent decision to
settle on the RPi as our development platform. The network effects are
going to be unbeatable, and entirely in our favor, once these RPi
Zeroes disseminate all over the world.
