Ihave the exact same problem. At first I thought it was the charger I was using, so I changed it, but now the same thing is happening again on a different Qi charger I bought. It works fine for a week or so and then stops working. This is very frustrating as this is not the only problem I am having with this phone. I remember the good old days when Apple products just worked. I am hoping if enough people complain they will come up with a patch soon.

Try powering down the iPhone X and restarting. This works for me. Seemingly no rhyme or reason, it just stops working. I power down and up...presto iwireless charging works fine. Agree w/ others, this is very annoying for premium product.

Having the same thing happen with my iPhone X. My wife and I both have the same Qi-enabled chargers and her new iPhone X works fine on both of them. No available appointments anytime soon with an Apple Store Genius Bar but was able to get an appointment with an Authorized Service Provider - Best Buy. Hope they can fix or replace the phone.

In my case, all was fine until yesterday. Now when I do wireless charging, my iPhone X charges up to 80% and then stops. When I turn it off and on again, it goes up to 84% and then stops. I bought the wireless charger from the same Apple store I got the iPhone.

Same issue here. After I updated it the other night, it quit charging on the charging mat that previously was charging it fine. I agree with all - for a phone/product at this price point, this should not be an issue! I really don't love the IphoneX for a variety of reasons and had buyers remorse, but stupidly didn't return it within the 2 week return window. ?

I had to replace a 6 month old iphone 8 because it randomly rebooted whenever it wanted. Got a replacement today and that one won't wireless charge. I'll have #3 in two days. Not a good track record for Apple's new stuff. Replaced my 5 year old 4S because they stopped supporting it, never had a problem. Their new stuff isn't as good.

Received my iPhone 12 Pro Max today but it won't wirelessly charge on any of the three Q1 chargers I have. My XS Max and wife's X all work fine. Why is this? I have the Apple silicone case but with the case or without it still won't charge. Starts for a few seconds then the chargers flash a few times and it stops charging.

I just bought my 12 Pro Max on Friday (11/13) and last night (11/17), the wireless charging stopped working. I found a video on YouTube that indicates that turning the phone off and then back on will temporarily resolve the issue and that installing iOS 14.2 will resolve it. I tried turning it off and back on and it did start wirelessly charging after that. Installing iOS 14.2 now. In the "About this Update" document, it indicate that the 14.2 release does fix the following issue (among others):

True, I did buy new chargers, so let me correct my comment. For "ME" the charging issue is resolved. If you are waiting for something else to come from Apple on this after they have now released two updates on Wireless Charging issues since iPhone 12 was released, the update you seek may never be forthcoming. So, where does that leave you? You can post here on a user to user only forum, which Apple engineering doesn't read or contribute to. Or you can do something like I and many others have and move on to chargers which do work.

Dear TimG150, with 4 points, you haven't been around these parts long. I appreciate you think you know how this forum works, but you don't. Other than Forum Hosts who review posts for violation of terms of use, and Specialists who answer questions which have gone unanswered for 24 hours, Apple isn't here. It's NOT Fake News. It's Fact and I think having been on this forum for more than a decade helping people gives me a bit of an edge over someone who is clearly unfamiliar with the forum.

Especially since you have others that do charge on your chargers, I would recommend you reach out to Apple Support directly and inform them of what you've stated here.

Apple has also released two iOS updates since iPhone 12 was released, specifically addressing wireless charging issues. Whether any more will be coming, only Apple knows, but I doubt it at this point.

I understand you are continuing to reboot and then your phone charges. Since changing out my charger to a newer charger with dual charging coils and an 18W QC3.0 brick, it has been now over a month and I have not had to reboot once and I'm getting a reliable full charge every night.

I too am having this design or software issue both my 12 max and 12 mini stopped charging with new purchased mag safe changers . both the standalone MagSafe disc . and the foldable Magsafe for the phone and watch.

So, as far as cases go, it's really no big loss considering the price. I was just hoping against hope one of the cases would work for wireless charging, as I am really not comfortable at all using or charging my iPhone without a protective case on it. Will see what happens.

So far I haven't had any issues with mine charging on my Belkin wireless stand charger...it's currently in a Otterbox Symmetry case. Mom also hasn't had any issues. Hopefully I'm not just lucky and this is an issue that affects a small percentage (compared to how many users are out there). You may need to contact Apple Support directly if you're positive that the chargers you are using should work. I know once upon a time there was a Belkin stand charger (not wireless) that wouldn't work with the newest release iPhone at first...there suggestion was that people by an updated on. Randomly months later it worked perfectly fine so I imagine an update in iOS addressed whatever the issue was. Not saying that's what is going on here but it's possible

I'm convinced the charging issues are all influenced in the placement of charge plate on the back of the new phones because of the Magsafe system. But that doesn't mean we will have to adopt Magsafe charging. My preference is slow charging at night while I sleep. Our phones are now getting the maximum 7.5W charge on our new charging stands, which to me is ideal.

Welcome to the forum @bluetti_eaaquinocomcastnet !!

As Bluetti suggested, make sure your phone is first compatible to be wirelessly charged, and then press the DC button to turn on the DC outputs. I would then recommend taking your phone out of any case you might have on it, and then line it up ontop of the unit. It should start charging.

Cheers!

We just took delivery of a 2021 XC90 this week. Neither an 11 Pro or 12 Pro Max will charge on the Volvo pad. We receive the obstruction error (there is nothing in the vehicle except us and the phone). Both are running 14.2.1. No case and still no luck getting either to charge.

Thanks for this. Interestingly my wife's 11 Pro doesn't want to charge on the Volvo pad either. It obviously doesn't have the magsafe of an iphone 12. That led me to think it's the Volvo software. Both charge on a bunch of different Qi chargers we have no problem. Hopefully whatever the root cause it is a software fix. I also submitted the issue to Volvo via email. I figure the more people that complain the more likely it is to get fixed.

I have a new 2021 XC60 and an iPhone 12 also (and the same exact issue happens). I also bought a new 2021 S60 and the issue occurs there. I took out an old iPhone XS and it charges fine on the XC60 and S60. I'm really hoping a software update soon will fix the issue... maybe an iPhone engineer also buys a 2021 Volvo and escalates this issue to the top of the backlog! ;)

I have exactly the same problem with QI charging in my XC40 2019 - So far it worked perfectly past 2 years with iPhone X, iPhone 11 and now with my new iPhone 12 I always have to reposition the Phone to be charged. Since it worked with all previous Phone Generations and other Android Phones from friends I assume its related to iPhone 12. Im thinking of switching to an other Phone if this gets not solved.

I got the same problem with the same setup: iPhone 12 Pro with a 2021 XC60. Curious will there be a fix or workaround for this as wireless charging is so much simpler than regular charging via the cable.

I picked up my 2021 XC60 in December and at that time I had an iPhone 11. Wireless charging worked flawlessly. A couple of days ago I bought an iPhone 12 and realised the same thing you have, that the wireless charging doesn't work with the new iPhone 12... :( I'm very disappointed about that! I saw the post about iPhone 12 not being QI compliant because of the magnets, but Volvo should be able to build some sort of compatibility mode that would allow the iPhone 12 to charge wirelessly. I hope Volvo and Apple can work together to resolve this issue!

Wireless chargers work across different electronic devices such as phones, smartwatches, or wireless earbuds, assuming they all share the same wireless charging standard. The most widely used standard is the Qi standard, like the iPhone 15, and there may be an upcoming Qi2 standard soon.

Wireless charging works via electromagnetic induction. The copper coils in the charging base create an electromagnetic field that, when sensed by the receiver coil in the phone, starts a flow of electrons. This electrical current in the receiver coil subsequently powers the battery in your smartphone.
