Hi Céline,
You have to check that your release sites are in an area where you have current fields (i.e. outside of the land mask of your hydrodynamics files) and where the first flow direction at the time of release does not carry the particles onshore.
The flag ‘avoidcoast’ won’t actually help in the latter case as it won’t be able to determine where to place the particle back in the water; I assume that this is what’s happening in your case.
