So I bit the bullet and learned Kicad today. One hour in and I’m already more competent
than after weeks struggling with Eagle’s bugs. One thing is really hard though…

I’m on a Mac using a Magic Mouse, and the scroll-to-zoom is just out of control.
I mean like you just start to stroke the mouse and the board or schematic zooms from
near invisible to 100x screen size.

Can anyone suggest a way to control the zoom rate?

Clifford Heath.

This may be an issue with the way OSX / X11 type programs interact. Inkscape suffers a similar fate, although so does GoogleMaps which is mostly JS.

Try turning off scrolling momentum or lowering mouse sensitivity in the OSX mouse settings. In desperation I believe you can turn off the gestures?

Else try a Different mouse? OSX is historically/generally the least supported Kicad distro so it may not be mouse specific.

The new releases of Kicad have native Mac builds. It's true that Google maps is also too zoomy, but I'm accustomed to that now. Kicad needs a zoom rate setting.
