In need of an MXL belt

Hi everyone.

My name is Alastair and I've been watching the mailing list for a while now. I commented once before on the mailing list a little while ago but I haven't actually come in to the space yet. I'm working on an electromechanical pong project for school and am in need of two 236 tooth MXL belts with a width of 3 to 4mm. Seeing as you guys deal with 3d printers, I was hoping you guys would be able to point me in the right direction as I'm reluctant to pay more than $10 for the combined total (inc. postage and handling)

I got my MXL belts from:

Located in the Melbourne metro area, you can arrange to pick them up.

But I see that the length you are after is not what they carry. If you
were going to cut it anyway, then at least the above are longer. And
CHEAP.

If you want a continuous belt in a specific size you probably won’t get them both for less than $10. You can find them here: http://www.smallparts.com.au/ or directly from: https://sdp-si.com/eStore/Catalog

If you find anywhere that you can get 2 continuous belts for $10 including delivery let me know.

@darren, Thanks but my design really doesn't lend its self to an open strip. @rob, seems your right that under $10 isn't going to be possible. I was hoping that someone at the space had some sort of contact and a place to get a belt cheaper.

Another option around ~$10 would be to buy them in the US (where there is generally more stock) and have them shipped to the CCHS MyUS box.   Vendors that us the USPS system seem to charge about $4 for the US portion of shipping, versus $10+ for international shipping.   

They would be light so not add anything significant to the DHL combined shipment cost US -> Oz.    We shipped this weekend just past and its here already, so perhaps we can organise shipments to coincide with 3d printer nights

That sounds like a great option. Do you have any suggestions as to which online stores to go through? I did happen across an american store called "sdp-si.com", would they be acceptable. And how would I go about adding the belts to your shipment?

That sdp-si would be the one and same as Rob hinted at, above :)   

You need to sign up as a financial member, the sooner the better given the current state of the budget.    After that I'll add you to the MyUS mailbox so you can ship parcels there, whether USPS ($4 ish) or Fedex/UPS ground (more like $8).   Given then belts are light I wouldn't charge for the US-Aus leg for this one, but reserve the right to ask for a share of the shipping on future / heavier stuff as mutually agreed in advance.   I recently brought some steppers across that seemed to increase to shipping charge a bit

Actually, I've just had an idea which could lend its self to an open ended belt quite well.
