Yes. FYI Thu 9AM their time is Fri 3AM Melbourne time. http://bit.ly/6BDUII

I'm planning to get my shopping basket together Thursday evening, and
then get up at 3 long enough to process the order.

Me too  - well, truth be told I already have it planned ;)

Tom et. al. I'm guessing you will have read the fine print, but if not its important to read through it:

 - Basically, US$100K total is available based on US$100 per order per household (mailing address)
 - After the first 1000 orders have been processed, the money runs out and you will be charged.

So, I think you need to be prepared to pay for the full cost of your order in the event that you miss out on the pool of "free" funds, but hope that you make it through in the first 1000 orders and get $100 off your order cost.

Also, they've just moved to new servers, so I'm expecting the ordering site crash big time :)

Cheers,

Paul

There's a comment on their news page for the day with the following:

"You will see whether or not your order qualifies for a credit in the checkout process."

Looks like it should be safe that you won't get left paying for your order.

Looks like their site had already crashed... everyone getting in early
to fill their shopping cart?

Incidentally, (I can't provide a link for this because the site is
down) they are running a competition - you have to guess what time (in
Colorado local time) their $100,000 free day budget will be used up by
- and the closest guess wins $200 Sparkfun credit. Email
fre...@sparkfun.com with "Free Day Guess: HH:MM:SS" in the subject
and a blank body. You must have a registered Sparkfun account
corresponding to the same email address you send from.

Furthermore... I'm curious. What are you guys planning to order to
take advantage of this offer?

We'll, I had my sights on one of AFL Robots, or maybe one of the new 9
DOF Razoe boards for some UAV development.

I'm thinking of the subject of this email: My bet is it will be a
"sparkfun-free" day :-(

I think we are seeing a total underestimation of the forces they've
unleashed. Either that or they knew they'd get hosed, but figger
US$100k just can't buy the kind of buzz they're getting now... Insane
or insanely genius, how can I pick?

Some interesting stats on the Sparkfun site now: http://www.sparkfun.com/commerce/news.php?id=322

Australia turned in the 3rd most successful orders (Not bad considering it was 3AM!).  I also liked the order from one person made up of $100 worth of green LEDs

Finally, I see they even quoted Luke right at the bottom of that post :)

What's more, I actually took that quote from someone in the sparkfun
IRC channel and tweeted it :)

Grant,

I'm planning a bit of demonstration of some SMD reflow soldering on
Saturday at 2:00 pm. If you've got a PCB ready for that LCD connector,
bring it along and we should be able to solder that down without too
much drama.
