Is there interest in a list of the component at the space going on the website?

Attached is a first run at doing a list.

hi Geoff,
That's a pretty awesome effort ... and quite handy when looking for
parts / understanding what we have.

It'll be interested to see how much effort is required to keep it
up-to-date.

I suspect that most members won't know about / won't think to update the
on-line document ... when removing / adding parts. Perhaps if there was
a printed version placed prominently next to the component shelves
(easier to update on-the-spot with a pen) ?

If your list was available as a shared Google Doc (rather than a PDF),
then more people could update it.

Thanks !

Great work, Geoff.

I have been thinking (perhaps too much) about some kind of automated bot for opening each drawer and snapping a photo of the contents to put together a kind of visual catalog / stock check.

Just maybe, it might be quicker just to snap a photo of each part and put together a web page with hotspots that show you the content of each drawer... as a start.

If I get a chance this morning I'll take those snapshots so we can keep it rolling

It would be good to tie the parts we have to a CCHS parts library, for kicad / eagle etc.

regards
Lachlan

The labels on the TTL in the set of drawers I donated were all falling off. I hope someone has done something about that! The drawers contain a lot of chips pulled from HP equipment, and they have their own numbering system, which uses two groups on 4 digit numbers. I have a decoding table for all such parts in these drawers, but you can also google one up now you know what to search for!

Thank you for your replies:-)

Now that I know there is interest in a list, I will go over it and plug some of the gaps.

What about adding datasheets to the list as well as photos?

A printed list next to the components is a good idea but would it be too hard to setup a database on the server?

If we setup a database on the server providing, in addition to the list, datasheets, parts library, app notes, etc; this would a provide a free design resource.
