Windows10 isnt working with rumba. Just upgraded from windows 8.
It sees the com port, but wont communicate. Arduino ide has the same issue.
It did come up with a message, install driver for arduino...
Rumba works on on win 7 computer.
Only thing I saw in the forums thats similar  was there was no com port. Not the case with me.

This might depend on a few things.

1. Do you have a new signed driver for this board?

2. If this uses an FT232 chip, then be aware that FTDI are at it again and have a busted driver:

http://www.eevblog.com/forum/microcontrollers/ftdi-gate-2-0/

FWIW: This time when a fake device is found, all serial output and input are converted to the following string repeated over and over:
 NON GENUINE DEVICE FOUND!

If you've got one of those chips on your board, you may want to contact the manufacturer, as the board probably has fake chips.. If it's a super-cheap eBay/Ali Baba special, then you're unlikely to get anywhere.

I've been trying to set up a virtual com port on my HP laptop running windows 10 with no luck.
(I've had to go back to my old XP system to be able to program my Quad) I have Googled high and low but nothing sets any USB's to a virtual Com....

Anyone tried or had luck doing this?

Peter

I have a friend that I know has a rumba board working under windows 10, so it's not a limitation of the hardware/software.

I've had this same issue with a mega. It would be recognised but could not transfer data. Replaced it.

I have a rumba and couldnt use the USB onboard (would never connect properly) I put an external FTDI usb to serial in and connected it to the serial in pins of the RUMBA  .... Michael Sulivan will know the pins to connect to and I think (long time ago so memory a little fuzzy ) you have to tie the reset of the original chip either hi or low and a cap in the reset line as well I think....

as I will be in china for the next month I cant open my machine and check... it works great for me ...

On further investigation, the Rumba uses a 16U2, and the Taurino firmware.

I couldn't see drivers validated for Win10, but there are drivers for Win8 and before. You MIGHT be able to use those.

Note: Win10 may have tried to update your drivers and left them broken. It might be worth reinstalling them from known sources.

PS: I'd point you at the RepRap wiki, but it seems to be down for me right now.
