Hey all, just wondering if anyone out there has done anything in relation to fitness and electronics?

For example, heart rate monitors, pedometers, gps, etc.

You might like to ask the Melbourne Quantified Self meetup group as well.

I am planning on building a pulse oxyimeter. I use one gliding, and have to regularly check it. I want one that has feedback, logging and alarms.

The new ADS1293 EVM from TI gets you a 3-channel ECG module and software for only $99.
It would be a good ultra-sensitive data acquisition device too, with its 24-bit Sigma Delta ADCs.

The pulse oximeter also needs very sensitive instrumentation, I believe; perhaps the ADS1293
would be useful there too?

We used a ADS1247 for our accelerometers for Antarctic project and I have Arduino drivers open source if anyone wants them.

Not sure how they compare, but might be a good starting point to a working ADS1293 library.
