Hi to everyone who I met today and to everyone who I didn't meet.
I'm going to be looking at joining CCHS soon and just wanted to introduce myself a little at the suggestion of Andy. I'm a final year swinburne student doing a Bachelor of Engineering (Robotics and Mechatronics) although I've already done my 'final year' project which was fun but stressful (mainly because of things blowing up or not working). Won't talk about that project too much, but essentially was trying to make a small UAV similar to the V-22 ospreys or tilt-rotor aircraft.
As some of you may have seen either on twitter or earlier today, I'm currently working on a Raspberry Pi powered robot (with the assistance of a Leaflabs Maple Mini to ensure the robot doesn't go too crazy) although it could be more of a remote controlled plank of wood as currently there are no sensors yet. The Raspbian Rover (as I'm calling it) is currently a little project to keep me sane during my final semester and if you want to know more about it, don't hesitate to come up and talk to me if I'm around. I'll be bringing the rover to meetings to work on it further.
I've got a general interest in electronics, especially digital electronics and microcontrollers. I've been playing around with microcontrollers for a good 3-4 years now and looking into making that my career. I'm a moderator on the Leaflabs forums and have a pretty good idea of what goes on in the libmaple software, so if you're having problems, feel free to prod me or post on the leaflab forums. Depending on what I'm doing, I might have a small selection of microcontrollers every now and again that I'm happy for others to borrow while I'm at CCHS, just let me know and I should be able to organise something.
Hope to see you all around at the space.
