This also breaks the new onscreen buttons for ctrl and esc. They do not
automatically move above the virtual keyboard when you are in fullscreen.

I can confirm that full screen mode causes the auto-stty row settings to
ignore the fact the keyboard is being displayed. Works fine with full
screen mode off. This is certainly a bug. Is it fixed in an unreleased
version?

On the galaxy nexus there's enough space for a usable terminal area and a
soft keyboard, this avoids a lot of annoying line wrapping.

This issue is still there with my Galaxy Note running ICS. It seems to
have no such issue with Gengerbread, but I am not sure.

Happens on Nexus 5 KitKat. Without full screen it works.

As an old user of ConnectBot, I have a feeling that this won't be fixed.
I am using it since 2009 (starting with HTC Magic that is still indicated
in the wiki page here:
http://code.google.com/p/connectbot/wiki/UsageWithSoftKeyboard )

I believe that the initial decision to use non standard Android IME was
poor judgement and lead to some nasty workarounds:
a) no proper full screen support
b) "Force size" - a weak effort to simulate "Font size" support.

It seems that the ConnectBot maintainers still have the initial mindset
where "the phones come with a hardware keyboard and here are some
workarounds in case you have a soft keyboard only".
But I know only of 2-3 models that come with hardware keyboards.

The legacy of the initial decisions is so deep into the code that this
issue might never be fixed.

I thus gave up on ConnectBot. Since I have the phone rooted, my alternative
is to use Android Terminal Emulator + an ssh binary + Hacker Keyboard. I
have proper full screen support, Font Size and a software keyboard with Esc
and Ctrl. I don't have the list of hosts to connect to easily but it saves
a lot of time and is much more useful. I can actually get the job done
instead of fiddling with the soft keyboard.

I've used Nokia 3310 for a long time and yesterday I bought my 1st android
phone. My friends told me that there is busybox and ssh client in android.
Now they are laughing. I am going to use normal terminal emulator and other
unix programs from chroot with xorg passthrough.
