lianeris won't pass anything - babeld reports the network being broken in half.

root@sv9ofo~# ip route
10.0.0.0/8 dev wlan0 scope link  src 10.176.41.1

Nothing passes past lianeris node. It's not visible.

Some instability and ping times in the order of 1 sec were observed for the last two weeks, reason unknown.

The webpage of 10.176.28.250 and 10.176.28.249 looks accessible from our side when directly connected to lianeris-mastaba link,if only loosely rigorous can perform a restart? Do you have the credentials to the node?

I'll try to pass by tomorrow to power-cycle it.

Sorry for the long delay!
Finally, thanks to the initiative of LooselyRigorous, he and I went to the LIANERIS node and - fortunately - all it needed was a reboot.

Nevertheless, at some time near the change of the year, we need to go there again to run an update to the firmware.

Greetings,

Here's an idea.
(not sure how easy it is to implement)

Could we add a networked UPS on that router/antenna?
(so we could do a hard reset through the network)

Just wondering if
a) that would be possible with our setup
b) how costly it would be if possible

Best,
Orfeas

Hmmm...
Cheaper (and maybe easier): ARDUINO + Ethernet shield + relay...?

There are some smart plugs / PDUs with just one socket for like 20-30 EUR, and they also do things like power consumption too. TP-Link has some nice offerings with a protocol that’s more open. However don’t expect SNMP in any of these.. Probably close to the cost of some Arduino based solution for a single socket. Just make sure it supports “restart” and not “power off” and “power on”, since it will be getting connectivity from the very thing it will shut down.. ;-)

The 10.176.26.249 and 10.176.26.250 devices were ssh accessible from
this side of the network (mastabas). Just edit credentials and give
them to looselyrigorous or to any1 from this side, in case the ip
forwarding tables crash again. Yes, a different glitch might occur at
any time that could require a hard reset. But if the glitch ends up
being the same, an ssh reset could bring it up again without any fuss
and no physical precence requirements.

You might want to take a look at this -> https://openwrt.org/packages/pkgdata_lede17_1/watchcat
Dunno if it works.
Also, since the router is unattended (and runs linux),
can't you just make an account that is only allowed to run the reboot binary?
Just a thought...

Or a cron job to reboot it weekly, or run it daily and if it can’t reach X.Y.Z.A IP reboot it.. :-)

This is exactly what watchcat does in OpenWRT.

As a matter of fact... Tonic (the router) already has watchcat on it. So we could
configure it to reboot, if connectivity with whitey in the labaki-csd node is lost.

Come to think of it, if the trouble is with packet forwarding,
the router wouldn't know by trying to reach certain IPs,
So maybe, maybe a cronjob that would flush and reload the iptables?
