Who is eating the 10.176.4.6 packages?

It seems that all packages to our PPTP server and up in a black hole:

Hello,

Sorry for the late reply. That’s me. And I don’t have the first clue how this

happened. I looked at my routing table and found the reason:

10.176.4.6 via 10.176.36.1 dev eth0.1

Absolutely no idea why that’s happening. I should note I am running

LEDE and therefore a later version of babel. Maybe it’s related to that.

For now I deleted the route. I’ll investigate this further and hopefully

come up with some answer.

I should also note that orionis is out of commission at this moment.

I rebooted it (for the first time in three years), because proxmox was

just not working at all, and some spooky action happened. May be the

networking failed to initialize, or it’s hanged at some stupid user prompt.

So it’s something we have to investigate and fix.

there' a plan to resurrect Rogdia during february- uoc has rented the building finally, we have deployed uoc radio there and there should be at least visit scheduled for february, if weather allows for it. there is one antenna up there, Idk the station setup, wind is down. pse advise.

Hey,

WIND is down because orionis is down. The hwmn domain is not registered

as well so you’d have to add the domains in your hosts file:

147.52.23.14 wind.hwmn.org

147.52.23.14 wiki.hwmn.org

Now, regarding orionis, I managed to contact surlatzis about it and he’s going to

help me with it. I should be able to have a look at it in about 45~ minutes! I’ll try

to find out what’s wrong and (possibly) upgrade proxmox.

Also, an update on the "black hole" route I found on my router. After talking about

it with Jann I realized the problem isn’t the route per se, but the fact it gets published

by babeld, something I suspect didn’t happen in older versions, but with the newer

versions there is some new default behaviour or some config mishap that’s causing this.

I’ll keep you posted on orionis.

FTR the domain hwmn.org domain _is_ registered and under our control.
But DNS is not configured for it.
So that's something we need to fix. Who has access to administer to domain?

Regarding the black hole and the babel route config file, it might be because the syntax has changed in more recent versions.

I have mentioned this in a previous e-mail:

I've been messing about with a couple of openwrt routers today and I found out that /var/log/babeld.log can get quite huge 
-rw-r--r--    1 root     root       1082664 Aug 23 20:47 babeld.log
mostly it is filled with 
Couldn't determine channel of interface eth0.3: Operation not supported.
Couldn't determine channel of interface eth0.4: Operation not supported.
Couldn't determine channel of interface eth0.5: Operation not supported.
I think it's because it's trying to find out on what wifi channel that interface is operating. But as you can see, this is a wired interface.
The reason this happens is because we have configured it in /etc/config/babeld.conf to be treated as a wireless interface (because an antenna is connected to it). But babeld thinks is a wireless interface that is physically present on the router.
Babeld tries to get the channel every few seconds (i think it's every time it sends a `hello`) so it fills the log quite quickly and I think /var/ is mounted on flash storage, so... 
Anyway, the solution I found is to add 
option channel noninterfering
to every interface entry in /etc/config/babeld.conf
I observed this on openwrt chaos calmer 15.05 and 15.05.1
Let me know of your thoughs, if you have any....
If i'm correct, maybe someone who has access, should update the wiki, (is it still online?) and in the process, use the new way of interface name definitions (as an option, see my example below). 
config interface 
        option ifname Rogdia
        option wired false
        option link_quality true
        option channel noninterfering
instead of 
config interface Rogdia
        option 'wired' 'false'
        option 'link_quality' 'true'

I’m at Φ.Κ right now. Last hour I was at the CSD building trying to figure out

how to access orionis. So sorry if I missed you!

Now, regarding orionis. I got a χιλόπιτα from surlatzis who told me to drop

by 13:30 by his office, and then told me to drop by Wednesday, but luckily I

contacted vervelak to explain to me the what, how and why of orionis.

The server is located in the B section, 2nd floor of the CSD building, that

is their “datacenter” (the only thing that makes datacenter come to mind in

there is orionis, lmao). I managed to find Mamalaki (who is CSD staff) and

she let me in!!!

So I had a look at orionis and it looks like for some reason it got stuck in PXE

booting. I have no idea why, but rebooting indicated that one of the two(?) drives

in the server has failed.

Despite, however, these ominous messages, I tapped continue. Lo and behold,

the server booted into Proxmox and the Web UI was actually responding. So I

started the VM’s and (as you may already have realized) everything is back up

and running.

I’ll have a look at the black holing issue and hopefully figure out some remedy.
