Location : Midtown NY
Duration : Long term


Description
Job Description/Responsibilities:
. Assisting and advising developers in query design and stored procedure development
. Troubleshooting database performance issues
. Working with system DBAs to setup new database environments
. Enhancing self-service utilities written in Shell/Perl
. Participating in change management activities
. Responding to batch job failures and production issues

Qualifications
Qualifications:
Looking for a high energy individual with the following qualities to step into DB2 UDB Application DBA role:

. Desire to learn new technologies
. Self-motivated and can work with very little supervision in a team environment

Experience in Years Skill Level Skill
5+ 4/5 DB2 UDB 9.x/10.x on Linux/Unix with DPF (Database Partitioning)
5+ 4/5 Shell scripting
3+ 3-4/5 Perl scripting


The candidate must have thorough knowledge in the following core areas:
. Query Tuning in partitioned databases
. Database utilities LOAD/EXPORT/IMPORT/RUNSTATS/REORGS etc.
. Analyzing database snapshots and explain plans
. Stored procedure development
. Automating database maintenance activities using shell/perl

The candidate must have proven experience in maintaining large partitioned databases ( over 2TB) in data warehouse environment.
Any experience in Greenplum would be an advantage.
