@speedy This guy claims the ugoos am6b+ now supports true tv led & cm4 and the amlogic bug was resolved that caused the fake tv led. Curious if this checks out in your opinion. (Slightly off topic but we need a general Dolby Vision watercooler space now that the DV8 feature shipped!)

Sorry but thats all wrong. CoreElec does not run on android, so design has nothing to do with underlying system. There are plenty of modern fonts and designs available for KODI.
Yes, Infuse is a very polished and easy to use piece of software, thats why we like it

The home screen of your Android TV device is where your apps, recommended videos, and menus live. This is also known as the launcher. Sadly, the design of the native Android TV launcher is widely criticized by the community.

However, it's possible to replace the Android TV launcher on your device. It's easy to download an alternative option with different menus, fonts, layouts, and more. And with that in mind, here are the best Android TV launcher apps to consider using.

The user interface marks a significant break from the Android TV launcher that you're used to using. On the left-hand side of the screen, you will see a scrolling wheel that lets you browse through broad categories (for example, All Apps, Internet, Games, Options, and so on).

If you have a smart TV from Samsung or LG that runs either TizenOS or webOS, the layout of TvHome Launcher will be instantly familiar. Indeed, if you want to recreate the smart TV experience, TvHome is one of the best Android TV launchers you'll find.

All of your apps are displayed along the bottom of the screen in a minimalist single line. You can scroll through the list using the left and right buttons on your Android TV remote control. The background image is customizable.

There are six spaces for apps on the main screen, and you can choose the apps that appear in the slots. If you need to access your complete list of apps, click on the corresponding icon in the upper left-hand corner.

HALauncher also has one massive benefit over the official launcher: it supports sideloaded apps on the Android TV's home screen. That means you won't need to use a fiddly workaround to access sideloaded apps on your Android TV box.

It has a built-in layout editor; you can use it to place apps anywhere on the screen, as well as to add widgets and tiles. You can even create your own tiles using the built-in tile editor, or by adding an ICO file or an image.

Despite its small footprint, the launcher is highly customizable. It offers widget support (which is great for monitoring the weather, your agenda, or sports scores), the ability to customize the on-screen tiles, and a way to change the app's background.

Some Android TV boxes don't come with Google Play installed. If that's the case, you might struggle to install the launchers we have discussed onto your device. Instead, you will need to sideload them.

In our opinion, there is not a single Android TV launcher app that stands out from the crowd. They are all targeted at different subsets of users. Consider questions like "how many apps do you use frequently" and "which features are most important" before you make your final decision.

This was one of the recommendations by WRXTASY. I am impressed with the features and functions within this price range.

I welcome your feedback.
Update: no feedback? Guess I'm the only one who purchased this?

I set one up about a month ago, no real issues. It is phone/tablet android o/s, which I prefer as we watch streaming apps and every APK we've downloaded works well in tandem with a third party air mouse.

The remote is next to useless, why do they bother sending one for what is a touchscreen O/S?
Just once or twice a video file has halted when watching an x265 movie file, I wonder whether that's due to a lack of ram, as the processor itself has a considerable oomph.

I love the extra settings for frame rate and dolby vision, though my advice is don't set the latter unless you have a dolby vision capable TV or you end up seeing a black screen and no way to get out of it short of finding a TV with dolbyvision capability or re-setting to factory, even that might be impossible as you can't view dos commands to re-set either. Why the box doesn't request you to confirm the new setting as boxes require users to do with resolution changes, is imo an oversight.

The HDMI CEC works quite well. In my case I set my Sony TV to control the power and the Ugoos to CEC on, but not set to power the TV. I also set the Ugoos to hibernate on TV power off. This way the box hibernates. The small LED on the top of the unit switches from white to blue indicating hibernation. When I want the box on, I can do it from the airmouse without having to pull and replace the power cord as you do with some of the chinky boxes. In hibernation the power usage is less than it is sleep mode. The manual power button on the unit itself appears to do little else than bring the power mode up on the TV, which is a bit weird.

Download the Youtube Android TV version from a third party app store like Aptoide TV and 4K youtube clips will stream in genuine 4K too. Dolby Digital or DTS surround sound is not natively passed through to amp via HDMI nor Optical. However if you use the media player from Kodi it will.

See below just pair your power button on remote it came with
Apologise for misunderstanding your previous and current post. I now understand your instructions how to pair between Android remote and mx3 to map the power button. Will try it out.
Thank you very much Wayne

Instructions to pair Android Power Button ON/OFF onto MX3 Air Mouse.
1. Press TV button on the MX3 and hold till the red led flashes.
2. Press the power button on the Android remote till the red led becomes solid on the MX3.
3. Press the red button (not the TV button) on MX3, and the red led flashes
4. Press the TV button on the MX3, and when the red led turns off, it's paired.

Also if it's going to have widevine L1 certification so that streams with adaptive bitrate can play at their full resolution. I'm thinking that it might require the Android TV O/S to stream Netflix etc at full resolution.
