Hi:

One current issue that you may or may not have noticed is that it is impossible to search just one specific library. All searches occur across the "system" level.

For example, if you try to search just the J.N. Desmarais Library, your search will show results from all of the libraries in the Laurentian system; if you try to search just Collège Boréal - Sudbury, you will see results from all of the libraries in the Collège Borèal system.

The reason for this limitation is that, while searches had been working since the upgrade on December 23rd, on the morning of January 2nd they were not working. I was able to see that the searches were failing to determine the "depth" parameter of the search, so hardcoded a depth of "1" (the system level) to get searches back up and running again.

I was reminded that search scope is still an issue and wanted to share that with all of you. I hope to be able to resolve the underlying problem so that searches can once again be targeted at either an individual library or an entire system, and will update any progress I make accordingly on this thread.

Best,
Dan

I have resolved this problem. I reverted my workaround code and restarted the web server, and you can once again set your search scope to either an individual library, a library system, or Conifer itself and be able to find the expected sets of records.

I'm not 100% sure why the workaround was needed on January 2nd, but my hypothesis is that I might have caught the system in the process of losing its connections to the database that caused the most recent downtime issue, and that my workaround patched around one of the failing database calls.

Hi Dan,

Is that why I am getting multiple copies of overdue reports?

Hmm, no, that (multiple copies of reports) would be an entirely different issue. I'll look into it.

I found 164 duplicate reports in the "scheduled reports" table. Some had a dozen identical report duplicates (exact same scheduled run time, down to the second), others had no copies.

I removed the duplicate entries. So hopefully we'll go back to having just one report & associated email notification.

I've also checked with the Evergreen community to see if anyone else has experienced this issue.

Hi Dan,

Before the reports went to multiple reports, it was at two (for a couple or so days).  So, it is now down to two again.  Perhaps tomorrow it will be back to one? I won't complain if it is still at two though.

Thanks for taking care of the matter for me.

I realized that we had two copies of the report-generating script running at the same time, which is undoubtedly why we were getting duplicates. Each report-generating script would kick off a new report, then schedule a new report--doubling every time that report was run.

I've removed the new duplicate entries and we're down to only one report-generating script, so all should be well!
