Last night our hosts upgraded our virtual machine to have 12 virtual
cores--which actually matches what we had on the virtual machine we
were using prior to the upgrade to 2.10. Until this morning, we had
been running on 8 virtual cores.

In theory this will give us better performance for the hundreds of
simultaneous processes that are running on the system at any given
time.

I have also been (slowly and cautiously) increasing the number of
Evergreen-specific processes that start and that are kept alive
waiting for requests, while monitoring overall load and memory
consumption, for the past four or five days.

So hopefully we're on the track to better sustained overall
performance and fewer network timeouts. We still have the database
version upgrade to complete, which is one more piece that plays a
major role in overall performance.

I'd be interested to know the news (good or bad) in your experiences
over the past few days, particularly in comparison to the first few
weeks of September.

Thanks,
Dan
