Thegame ended up gathering dust for some time until we purchased a new computer that was capable of running it. Then The Sims 2 was released. This time I understood that I had to wait. And wait I did. Eventually, a little bit after the initial release, I upgraded my Sims experience.

When The Sims 3 came along my laptop was, once again, not really up to the task of providing a satisfying Sims experience but by this point I was so determined not to wait I was willing to put up with the occasional burn on my legs and system shut down to enjoy that sweet open neighborhood experience.

Does anyone play Sims 4 with custom content?

I need a new laptop and hoping to get one for under 500. It's killing my existing laptop.

Does anyone have any recommendations? ?

I think you would really struggle to run The Sims 4 on a laptop especially with CC under 500 sadly :( I guess it depends though whether you'd just be running the base game with CC or whether you have the DLC packs as well, the more DLC and CC you have the more of a powerful laptop you'll need to support it all

I have a Samsung Galaxy Book (it is the one on Currys for 1,199) that I got in the sale for 880. I really didn't think this would even run The Sims 4, especially not with mods or CC but surprisingly it runs completely lag free with all the DLC, mods and CC. I'd definitely recommend if you could up your budget to 800ish when the laptop goes on sale - I think it goes on sale quite a lot for some reason. They also do interest free finance where you can pay monthly instalments up to 2 years if that is an option you'd be open to

If not, perhaps you could find a laptop with similar specs? I'll put mine:

Hi have you tried installing the NVIDIA .run drivers? This page could help you troubleshoot some problems.

I think most Dell laptops have good Linux support but not sure about the Alienware series.

Personally, I am using a Razer Blade 15. New devices and OS maybe have some incompatibilities but some issues may get resolved after awhile or workarounds could be found since Razer has a good Linux community too.

can i use/buy a laptop with GPU of RTX 3060 and a RAM of only 16GB ,and almost 512GB SSD , then run issac and generate images (100 frame) with videos and rendering an objects with such a specifications?

Yes. Any laptop with an RTX GPU should be able to run Isaac Sim on Windows. However, it also depends on your use case. Running more demanding simulation/larger scenes requires a more capable CPU and GPU.

this is may be missing the point but thinking outside the box a cheaper solution is to remote into your desktop from a burner laptop perhaps $100? - using something like nomachine (linux, windows compatible) on your home desktop using port forwarding on your router gives you access to a much more powerful GPU and video ram than ever will be possible even with a high spec laptop and of course you arent wasting battery cooling the gpu. the main thing is to get a laptop with high enough resolution and screen size to work on - something like at least 1920x1080 and 17 inches

My laptop, Lenovo T520 has a Sim Card Slot that can be revealed when removing the battery. I have a 3G USB dongle with a SIM card that works fine, however I would like to take advantage of the built-in SIM slot.

Unfortunately when booting up the laptop with the SIM card inserted into the SIM slot it seems like Ubuntu does not recognize the slot itself as my Network Manager makes no mention of a Mobile Broadband connection.

It is possible that the WWAN is disabled in BIOS check BIOS and make sure the feature is turned on.i know this thread is four years old and you probably dont have a sim card that size anymore but i do and im trying to see if i can get mine to work.

Educational institutions can be confident that purchased computers from Device will meet their needs.

In The Sims, computers are very simplistic in comparison to later games in the series; they are primarily Fun objects, with a couple of added bonuses to make up for the cost. A player who wants a Sim to have particular job may find it wise to have them invest in a cheap computer, as it will speed up their search fourfold as well as providing a good way for any children to study.

If a computer is placed on a community lot, only the Gaming function will be available. Sims who use a computer on a community lot will be charged between 5 and 35 Simoleons, depending on the computer's Fun rating.

Some of the computer functions in The Sims 2 are similar to the phone functions in The Sims. The uses of a computer have been greatly expanded, as they could previously only be used for gaming and finding jobs. In general, using a computer will not disturb Sims or pets who are sleeping in the same room. However, the sound effects of computer games are loud enough to wake sleeping Sims or pets.

On September 13, 2004, EA made an Alienware computer available for download from the Exchange for The Sims 2. This computer costs 3100, and has a slightly higher Fun and Environment rating than other computers. While this download may still be available from sites which echo or archive content from TheSims2.com, players should note that it was never updated for any expansion packs. While it will work with expansions, only the base-game functions will be available. Some updated versions were made as custom content; a version updated for University through Pets is available here.
