Diljaan was a popular Punjabi singer. He was one of the contestants on the television show Sur Kshetra (2012), where singers from India and Pakistan competed for the title. The singer received much acclaim for his performances and later sang many Punjabi songs. He also sang many devotional songs. He had also participated in Awaaz Punjab Di.
On the work front, Diljaan was gearing up to release some new songs. "Excited for songs 'Tere Warge' and 'Hanju'," he had posted on his Facebook page just two days ago.
Diljaan is survived by his wife and children, who are settled in Canada.
New Delhi [India], March 30 (ANI): Popular Punjabi singer Diljaan passed away due to a car accident during the wee hours of Tuesday. His car collided with another vehicle on the Amritsar-Jalandhar highway near Jandiala Guru town of Amritsar.
According to the police, the 31-year-old singer who had lent his voice to many Punjabi songs, died after his Mahindra KUV 100, which he was driving alone, rammed into a bigger vehicle at around 2:00 am on GT road near Jandiala Guru.
He was returning from Jalandhar and was on his way to Amritsar when the accident took place which heavily damaged his vehicle, leading to his on-spot-death. The police are investigating the mishap. However, since Diljaan's wife and children are currently in Canada, the body's post mortem will be done on April 5, after their return.
Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh condoled the tragic demise of the singer, saying it was "extremely sad to lose young lives like these on road".
Diljaan rose to fame after becoming a runner-up in the reality TV show 'Sur Kshetra' in 2012. He also participated in 'Awaj Punajb di' and was all set to release his new songs, which he had notified to fans through his Facebook page two days ago. (ANI)
Diljaan started her journey with the television reality show Awaaz Punjab Di. He was chosen as Runner-up in this reality show of Mh1 channel. The show earned him a lot of fame in the industry and after this he was seen as a contestant in many television shows, including Surkshetra.
Diljaan was on his way from Kartarpur town, near Jalandhar, to Amritsar in his Mahindra KUV 100 car when the accident took place at 2:30am. The Punjabi singer was taken to a nearby private hospital by where he was declared dead.
The police said Diljaan's car hit a stationary truck on the Amritsar-Delhi national highway near Jandiala Guru, some 20 km from Amritsar.
Several Punjabi music fellows paid rich tribute to Diljaan shortly after the news of his death broke out.
