WARD 8 FARMERS MARKET IS A GREAT PLACE TO MEET CHICKS

 

The Watkins Chickens will be at Ward 8 Farmers Market, this Saturday at Old Congress Heights School.  500 Alabama SE at Martin Luther King, Jr. 9 a.m. - 2 p.m.

 

These sweet tempered animals were hatched in a DCPS kindergarten as part of a classroom projects.  They came home to a DC backyard where they lay delicious eggs.  Their owners will talk about the practical and legal challenges of this kind of urban agriculture.

 

LAST CHANCE FOR STRAWBERRIES

 

Strawberries are the classic spring fruit, and the plants are almost through producing their luscious red fruit.  If you haven't had any local straws this year, or if you haven't discovered how much better they are when they haven't been shipped across country,  It's your last chance for 2010

 

CORN, BLUEBERRIES, AND RASPBERRIES ARE HERE.

 

Summer is here, and so are the summer treats.  Get your corn on the cob, and new berries.  One day from growing in the farmers field to Congress Heights

 

LET'S WELCOME SOME NEW FOOD VENDORS.

 

Grace's Pastries will bring great bread and sweets.  Virginia Bakery will create Smoothies and Fresh Lemonade.  Coy Dunston of Secrets of Nature will bring herbs, vegetarian choices, tea and more.
