Subject: Stimulus Checks

Dear CCC members,

The information in this email is provided to help you maximize the benefits that your family might be entitled to under the CARES Act.

Please note that if you live with your parent(s) and if they are US permanent residents with a valid social security number, they too may be entitled to the stimulus payment from the IRS even if they have never worked in the US.

Whether or not you claim them as dependents on your tax return, it is advisable to go to www.irs.gov and register them by entering their banking info in the IRS system.

Upon doing this, the IRS will determine their eligibility and if they're eligible, a payment deposit date as well (it is that simple.)

Steps to follow:

1. Go to www.irs.gov

2. Click on "Non-Filers: Enter Payment Info Here"

3. Scroll down to find and
click on "Enter Your Information"

4. Once you click on the button in step 3, you will be taken to the site https://www.freefilefillableforms.com/#/fd/EconomicImpactPayment

5. Follow the instructions on this site and the information you provide will be submitted to the IRS.

People who have also recently come to the US as permanent residents in 2019 and 2020 are also advised to do this regardless of their employment status.

Please note that you will need a working email address in order to be able to do this.

Direct deposit is the fastest way to get the funds (under 14 days). Checks take 4 to 6 weeks.

Finally, under the CARS Act, most mortgage holders and people that have monthly car payments can request a payment freeze for up to 3 months for mortgages and 6 months for car loans.
Once you're approved for this assistance, the bank will notify you and they will not charge any penalties, interest or even report that to the credit bureau.

If you have any questions on this, please contact Pastor Moise Wetu at 3092870205.

Sincerely,

Congolese Community of Chicago
