Epson Heat-Free Technology does not require heat in the ink ejection process. Instead pressure is applied to the Piezo element, which flexes backwards and forwards firing the ink from the printhead.

In contrast, other technologies work with heat. Laser printers need to heat the fuser to enable printing, for example.

The Epson 7xxx are A3 machines and have been my favourite of the WF range. The 7845 is one of the nicer of the 7xxx range with dual trays so you can keep A4 & A3 on hand, or plain & letterhead etc. Also the rear feed which facilitates heavier stock than the tray feed allows. A much more versatile device IMO. With Inkjet you can have a tradeoff between speed and quality. If you choose the speed option it's much faster than the laser.

My Epson wf7725 just had its 3rd anniversary and has been faultless. I leave it on 24/7and print a similar volume to you.

I haven't had to run a nozzle clean for over a year.

I know the 78 series has replaced it but I would think that it would be equivalent.

The large capacity black ink cartridges work out similar cost to laser.

It's slower than my xerox cp305d but now sure how the brother compares as I know some have terrible duplex speed

For example a few months back I timed a print. It took the wf7725 10m 30sec or 5ppm to print this document double sided 'standard' quality -properties-2020.pdf

Printing double sided kills the print speed but that is in part due to the short paper path. It will print almost twice as fast if you don't duplex. My laser on the other hand can hold a full page in the duplexer so it can print a 2nd page whilst queuing the first.
