I bought a laptop a long time ago but I never really used it enough to notice this.
I am now using it every day and every time a Windows 10 notification shows up, both my ears bleed (not really but you get the idea).
The volume of these notifications is EXTREMELY loud.
I'm using my Airpods Pro 2 to take Zoom calls on my PC running Windows 11. Despite keeping the volume to 100%, I can barely hear what the others are saying only in a Zoom call. When I'm playing audio via Spotify windows app, or Youtube via browser, 20% volume is sufficient to provide that clarity.
When I keep Spotify playing on the side with say 30% volume and open Zoom settings -> Audio, there is a pause in the playback and then the audio playing via Spotify becomes barely audible. The loudness drops drastically (despite keeping 100% volume) only on Zoom calls or Zoom audio settings. 100% volume on Zoom feels like 20% or less in other apps. The mic output seems fine though. I'm noticing a similar issue with my older Airpods Pro gen 1 headphones as well.
But for some reason I tried actually swiping up on the airpods themselves, which will increase volume when connected to my phone. It actually worked! It didn't change the volume level as shown in windows (already at 100%), but I was able to hear much better. So it looks like actually changing volume on the airpods is independent of changing it within Windows. This may not fix your issue, but it's worth trying. I feel so dumb that I didn't think of this before. But I swear that until recently, I *could* control volume via the volume slider in Windows. I don't know what changed.
Sorry, haven't found a solution yet. The issue still remains despite the latest updates. I tried with a Bose NC 700 headphone, and its the same result. So, it's not isolated to the Airpods Pro 2, rather a more prevalent issue
Thank you for this. I tried it with my Airpods Pro 2, swiped up and saw the volume increase even though the % was maxed at 100. Now I can actually hear what the others are saying in a Zoom call. Best part is, the volume setting is retained so I don't need to swipe up when I connect the headphones the next time.
This actually worked for me! One thing to make sure: "Audio Enhancements" needs to be enabled in the properties page of the Airpods. I had turned them off because I thought that the "enhancements" might be the reason for the decrease in volume, but as soon as I put it on "Device Default Effects" and tried swiping up on the little indentation on the Airpod, the volume went up in the Zoom call. I'm so happy. I had given up on using my Airpods Pro for Zoom calls. Just FYI, it does not change any of the sound sliders on the laptop eventhough the volume is changing in the headphones when I swipe.
Play your music through Spotify, iTunes, or whatever you use. Go to System>Sound. Under Advanced, choose More Sound Settings. Select the Recording tab from the Sound pop-up. You should notice the same pause and audio volume drop as you do in Zoom. While still on the Recording tab, go back to System>Sound and open the Volume Mixer. Move the slider to 100%. On the Sound pop-up, click the Playback tab. You will get the pause again and the volume should be pretty level between those now.
I found this out accidently while trying to determine why sliding the AirPod volume made a difference. It seems for some reason, Windows is treating the Airpods (and possibly other brands) volume separately depending on if it is in audio mode vs telephony mode. Whatever it is, I'm glad it's working now.
I have the same product and facing the same exact issue, i cant adjust any app volume via windows Volume mixer. i can only mute or demute and the only thing that works is the speakers volume which control everything at the same time.
I did pretty much the same things you did and no luck so far. i dont even know if its possible to roll back to an older version to fix the issue and this is really bothersome.
Please let me know if you find a fix
I have found a fix, Uninstall synapse and delete the razer folder from your drive. Then go and download a previous version of synapse or maybe one that you have already downloaded in the past. Remove your headset once you finish unninstalling synapse and dont plug it back until you start installing the older version. Once it will finish installing it will start an auto update that you can either pause or cancel by clicking on the X icon close to it.
This is the version i already had and working fine RazerSynapseInstaller_V1.15.0.504
Update : it appears that its not from synapse but more from the thx spacial update they implemented. removing the sound board from the headset and plugin the headset directly fixes the issue but you will not be able to edit your EQ or anything.
Does Razer not test their updates before sending it out? 1st it was the update that killed the THX and now its the update that kills the volume, seriously what is going on there.. how about they start using this insider program and let us test the updates 1st before it gets send out to the masses.
This will save a new Sound Scheme (for me it was called "Windows Default (modified)". If you want to undo your changes, you can either set the sound back to what it was, or you can change the Sound Scheme back to "Windows Default".
If you want to turn off the changing volume sound running Windows 10 through Bootcamp (on a Mac machine) the accepted solution might not work for you. You can then disable the sound by right-clicking on a speaker icon (bottom right corner of the screen) -> Open Volume Mixer -> Remove volume for the Bootcamp Manager. If you don't see Bootcamp Manager there try to adjust volume with your keyboard buttons and it shall appear.
Although you can remove this sound by removing the Default Beep, as indicated in other answers, this also affects other notifications. However, (as david-metcalfe pointed out in this comment) if you change the volume by clicking on the volume icon in the Start bar and then using the mouse wheel to scroll up and down, the beep is not produced. This may be a more practical way to avoid the sounds when on a call etc.

Yes, I have ticked the C drive box. It just tested again on Docker version 1.11.1 (build 5604cbe) on the work Dell PC and it fails. I tested the same version on my personal laptop and it works. Both have the latest Windows 10 update. The work PC is using Active Directory Windows Auth if that matters. Any other differences or PC specs you would like me to report back?

Thanks dude! This finally solved the issue I had with my relatively new Headphones. After having a lot of difficulty getting Windows to recognize them properly it was a real bummer not being able to adjust the volume. You saved my day :).
2) Oddly enough, mine even shows 4 partitions? Two data/boot partitions that I plan to merge. 1 system partition and 2 (!) recovery partitions. When right-click, it only shows "help". Can I delete it?
I just set up a windows vm and forget to adjust the initial size of 30g. I went to increase the capacity and got the same problem. I downloaded Paragon Partition Manager: -software.com/us/free/pm-express/
And on separate note, I had tried to expand the disk further. It changed from 1.5TB to 2.0TB, but this didn't do anything. I then tried 1.8TB instead, but it changes it to 2TB automatically. The disk size though stays at 1.5TB and no additional unallocated space exists in disk manager.
Just wanted to follow up that i didn't want to delete the recovery partition for the Windows VM after expanding the disk in the blue box of the VM tab in Unraid, so i used Paragon as well to simply expand and it worked like a charm without deleting the recovery partition (didn't have to restart or anything).
