Since there was so much discussion, concern, and controversy around naming this thing, I thought I should start that up immediately with a potential solution.

CongressCamp Compass
A guide to the use of social media by Congressional offices

Or some similar tagline. But first, let's focus on the name.

This leverages the success of CongressCamp while avoiding the concerns about the term 'best practices' and referencing the fact that we're providing direction and helpful information, although not specific answers.

Background
For those that were not in attendance, the basic idea is to create a repository of case studies and good information that can provide overwhelmed staffers with the information they need to implement successful social media strategies in their offices.

We agreed to set up an installation of mediawiki (which runs wikipedia) to collect the information, establish a fabulous design to make it easy to read, and meet again in a couple of weeks.

Anyone who has good notes from this session, please upload them!! I was too busy talking!

I liked "GeekCongress" a lot - whoever came up with that. I know Noel
was digging it. It can be a little edgy, and this pretty much creates
a picture of what we're about... geeks helping Congress w/ all this
stuff.

Regarding the tagline, I feel this effort is around best practices for
MoCs using social media, communications, and collaboration
technologies.

Social Media is a big part, but doesn't cover everything. Where's
Jess3 when we need a Venn Diagram! :)
