Caravan Island is the first location of the Second Chapter released in Update 12. The island consists of a town, also referred to as Caravan Town, which spreads out over three pinnacles with a tower built of containers in the middle. Ziplines and suspension bridges connect the pinnacles, allowing the previous tenants quick access to the different parts of the island.Goats and Cluckers can be found throughout the town. Flying around above the island is a White Screecher that will attack you relentlessly once it detects you. Luckily, there are a lot of containers that served as houses for the previous tenants that you can take cover underneath.
The player is presented with a number of tasks while on the island: finding three Battery Charger Parts to make a Battery Charger, finding three Zipline Parts to make a Zipline Tool along with its respective blueprint, finding a number of keys leading to the Mayor's Chest, acquiring blueprints for the Metal Detector and discovering the blueprints for Fireworks. There are 10 notes in total.
On top of the stacked container tower in the middle of Caravan Island is a small commemoration with candles, incense and positive news articles posted on a flag pole. All the articles hold some sort of positive news despite the ongoing apocalypse. Among the news is plans to revitalize the Amazon, an Asian reforestation plan, the ReFormation project intended to save Africa, plans for buildings that will reach over expected sea-level, and lastly the possibility of surviving on raft homes. This commemoration gives the player insight into some of the Caravan Island occupants' pastimes, and reassuringly one that suggests that the villagers were of some hope of a future.
The Container Tower in the center of Caravan Island seems to serve a few important purposes. The first is the above mentioned commemoration. The second is the hallway leading into the main Container Tower room. The walls are decorated with hooks in memorial of people who have passed away during the struggles of the apocalypse. Small messages are written by the people who have hung up the hooks. Some carry regrets of not being able to save the person, but most are appreciation of the people being remembered. Inside the tower is a room with a table in the center. On the table is a terrain model of Tangaroa as well as small figures of rafts and a stick to move the pieces around. It is evident that the villagers of Caravan Island were strategizing their approach to Tangaroa, which they must have seen before, either themselves or in a newspaper, given the accuracy of the model.
The infirmary holds a number of Healing Salves as well as the Mayor's Chest Key. To access the infirmary, the player has to get the key from the bottom of the ocean inside a container. It's easy to find, as the bicycle pump's pipe found beneath the Container Tower leads directly to the container in question. There is air in the top of the container at the bottom of the ocean but its recommended you bring flippers and oxygen bottle and make several trips to the surface as there will be a number of Poison Puffers to fight. Its also a great place to get the explosive goo you will need to launch the rocket on caravan island to obtain Major Tom as well as a Zipline Part.
The Mayor's Office is the last location accessed on Caravan Island after acquiring the Zipline Tool. The office holds the four digits that lead to Tangaroa, as well as the workbench for making the Battery Charger, the Mayor Hat and a few resources. Outside the office, on the next-door pinnacle, are two Dirt patches behind the RV. Lastly, leaving the Mayor's Office towards the area with Jenny's Smithy and Carl's Carpentry will lead to the roof of an RV with a Radio Tower Loot Box.
On the downside, kite walls (out-sloping) add some difficulty when working on interior shelves and cabinets. Also, as noted for over a hundred years, the mollycroft can weaken the roof and ultimately increase the chance of leaks. A small price to pay maybe but something to keep in consideration.
The classic caravan at this period included a full chest of drawers and a fairly large stove, limiting seating to a largish space on the stove side and a small dressing seat next to the dresser. Although we read of dozens of children being born and raise in this design, the real layout seems to be based on the couple. Kids will make due.
Glenn, I too am designing a Vardo style wagon, except that I want to transform it into a working RV. I am looking at using either the aluminum as you suggest, or fiberglass with frame and blown insulation inside. I am also planning to do the fancy carvings on the ends, the Lions and the side slats by first sculpting and then molding them in a plastic that can either be glued on or screwed from the inside.
This type of caravan was designed with simplicity in mind, perfect for enjoying summers on the road. Could be built by the traveler himself as they were built onto an existing trader's dray. You'll find handy notes on the types of lumber needed, how to construct the undercarriage and wheels, build the body, and some general notes.
A .pdf blueprint document showing the critical dimensions to build the canvas portion of your DIY camper. This pdf goes over the areas of the canvas that relate to its mounting, such as the perimeter profile, Keder rail, and shape. This is not a full "seamstress pattern" and does not cover optional or "at your discretion" parts like the windows or skirt.

The Cavern is a fifth level biome exclusive to the Rise of the Giant DLC. It is located beyond the Graveyard and served as a crystal mine for the King. It contains a variety of unique enemies in a series of carved tunnels, with a greenish visual atmosphere.
The layout of the Cavern is peculiar, as it contains narrow shafts, probably used by the miners to move around the area, as well as floating platforms and pools of lava. The Cavern is initially the only way to reach the Giant, who is located in the Guardian's Haven.
