Youmay have your vehicle windshield and/or front side windows tinted (sunscreened) in New Jersey with a medical exemption only. To apply for window sunscreening, please follow the steps outlined below: Please note: You may not have your windows sunscreened until you receive approval from NJMVC.

So I just had my windows tinted on my car and like an idiot rolled down my window for a ticket to a parking garage. I had them tinted Saturday and this happened around noon on Tuesday. I don't notice any peeling or bubbling, but I see what looks to be some sort of abrasion on the window like someone lightly rubbed a brillow pad on it etc. Will this go away or will I need to have it replaced? Also, how difficult is it usually to have redone?

Infiniti G37 - the tint was a gift from my gf so I don't know anything about the type it is etc. She has had tint on hers for a year with no issues but not sure if it is the same kind. Also, I just went outside and the abrasions feel like scratches when your rub your hand over it

Pursuant to New Hampshire law, RSA 266:58-a, tinting to the windows to the left and right of the driver where they are allowed shall not be less than 70 percent light transmittance, and the light transmittance of after market tinted rear windows where they are allowed shall not be less than 35 percent. It shall be unlawful to sell or inspect any motor vehicle in this state which has after market tinting on the windshield, or to drive on any way any motor vehicle registered in this state which has after market tinting on the windshield.

Where after market tinting is applied to windows to the rear of the driver, outside rear view mirrors shall be required on both the left and right side of the vehicle for the use of the driver and a front seat passenger.

Windows that are allowed to be tinted without a Waiver? After-market tinting may be applied to the windows to the left and right of the driver, with not less than 70 percent light transmittance, and the rear windows of a vehicle, with not less than 35 percent light transmittance.

Persons who require for medical reasons after market tinting on the windshield may apply for a special permit pursuant to RSA 266:61-a. Pursuant Saf-C 2500, persons wishing to apply for Tinted Window Medical Waiver for the windshield must submit an application dated within six (6) months, along with photocopies of the vehicle registration(s) that require tinting. Once the application is approved, a waiver is granted for two years. To renew a Tinted Window Medical Waiver, a new application signed by the physician within 6 months of submitting the application must be sent in, along with a photocopy of the vehicle registration(s).

As mentioned, it typically takes about 2 to 4 hours to complete a window tinting job. Still, there are several factors involved that could increase or even decrease that time. Some installers work faster than others and will have the job completed in less than two hours. On the other hand, some installers work slower, and it may wind up taking longer. In addition to the speed at which the installer works, there are some other factors that affect the length of time window tinting takes.

First of all, the type of vehicle that needs tinting makes a difference. The size and shape of the windows also have an effect on the timing, as well as the number of windows. Finally, if there is old window tint that needs to be removed, that will add time to the process.

An SUV or van has more windows than a sedan. Therefore, it will take longer to apply window tinting. Typically, a sedan with four doors should take approximately two hours, maybe less, depending on the technician.

Finally, as stated, if your vehicle already has old tinting that must be removed, it will add an additional two hours or more to the process. This is because the technician will not only need to peel off the old tint but will also need to remove the glue before applying the new tint.
