Our organization Civilian Welfare Foundation works for the Call Against Patriarchy movement in order to identify and confront patriarchy as the chief cause of increasing violence on women. While judicial intervention and legal actions are absolutely necessary we believe the larger path of fighting back patriarchal assumptions has to be taken. We have organized three street marches, 2 street plays and a recording of public opinion (read biases) on increasing violence on women. We are amazed and appalled in witnessing the lack of gender sensitivity among people and have been more convinced in carrying on with our activities. The first march happened in 31st of December midnight to protest the Delhi rape case. We could gather more than 300 people and organizations like Sappho extended their support in our march. We are undertaking awareness programs in schools, colleges and other public spaces through self-defence workshops, gender sensitization symposiums, film making events, photography and painting exhibitions and many other activities. We are launching our website soon where there will be our promotional video that addresses the need to fight patriarchy to have a more gender sensitive society and to stop violence on women and sexual minorities. We are open to collaborate and work with whoever serves common interest. I will keep you posted about our activities as they happen and would expect your co-operation.
