Should we use a LB or DNS-RR for Zookeeper or Kafka?

Hi,

I'm looking to put either a LB (AWS ELB, or HAProxy) or DNS round-robin in front of Zookeeper and Kafka so we have a single, consistent IP/hostname (so no client changes during scale out). I've read a few articles where there are likely to be issues in either case and was wondering if someone here could provide some more recent experiences and guidance.
