Dick Stodghill, an often quoted here World War II veteran and local
columnist for the Muncie Star Passed away on November 8, 2009 at the
age of 84. Frankly I knew he had been suffering significant health
problems in late October, but by the end of the month all seemed well
again. However, November 3, 2009 was to be his last blog ever.

Dick did not want an obituary or a funeral, and his wife Jackie has
honored his wishes. I will also oblige except to say that he was a
journalist who lived in a very different time. He filed 5 colums a
week, wrote on sporting events, and had a lucrative writing career on
the side. This former rifleman in WWII left us with quite a
collection of literature. Please click on his website to see a very
small sampling of what he wrote:

His latest full length book was published in 2006. It is titled:
Normandy 1944: A Young Rifleman's War.
ISBN: 1-4241-4913-4

As a tribute I will post an excerpt from his website in a later post.

Rest In Peace Stodg
