Workers Memorial Day 2010

Today is Workers Memorial Day and I want to bring two things to your notice.

 

1. President Obama today issued the first Presidential Proclamation on Workers Memorial Day. You can read it here: http://www.whitehouse.gov/the-press-office/presidential-proclamation-workers-memorial-day

 

2. OSHA Assistant Secretary David Michaels will appear tonight on ABC Nightline at 11:30 EST. The network is doing a program on unscrupulous employers not abating identified workplace hazards, not reporting workplace injuries, and engaging in practices to discourage workers from reporting incidents.  Dr. Michaels talked about the practices of under reporting, and how that leaves OSHA statistics on workplace injuries inaccurate, incomplete and untimely. He talked about efforts to bring about better reporting through awareness and increased enforcement. The first part of the interview aired this evening on World News Tonight.
