A couple weeks ago a very successful friend of mine (Jeff Goins) shared a post on Facebook about how his business was upside down. And how he was personally funding it to pay the team and cover all the expenses.

It resonated with me deeply, because coming out of our Sabbatical Year last year, I find myself in the same position. There is a lot of cleaning up to do from taking a year off. Additionally, over the years our expenses have increased considerably and as such it takes more revenue to maintain profitability.

Almost any business owner will tell you that to go 10 years without an unprofitable month is absolutely incredible. Many businesses spend many years unprofitable (think Amazon) and it is just not that uncommon to have periods of unprofitability.

We live in the age of the entrepreneur and it really is the best time in the history of the world to start a business. But, to assume that running a business is a get-rich-quick scheme is just foolishness.

If we can LEARN how to be content in both high and low times, then I want to learn that. It bothers me that my emotions and moods can be directed by the current success or failings of my business or bank account.

I have found that oftentimes God shuts a door when a new one is about to be opened. And there have been countless times where I was wedging my foot between the door and the jamb trying to keep it open as He was shutting it.

The feeling of freedom that I felt still brings a smile to my face. I was stepping into a world that I had been dreaming about for years. I remember being so thankful and appreciative and telling God that even if I was only making $8/hr, the freedom was worth it.

And even if the internet disappeared tomorrow, and I had to go back to my old day-job with the cubicle and fluorescent lights in the corporate abyss, I want to be forever grateful for what God has done.

This site contains the lessons we learned on our journey from being stingy, debt-ridden fools, to being able to reach our biggest financial goal of giving $1 million by age 40, having zero debt & a paid off house by age 31, and peace with money in the process.

Yes it can be safely done. I mount our SRII to an upside down sachtler 18 plus quite regularly on the end of a 6 foot jib arm. I attach the quick release plate to the threaded handle so that I can place the camera fractions of an inch off the floor/table/whatever.

If you ever find one of the old NCE's from my early days, it's important never to let it get upside down or even laid on its side. There's no seal for the pan, and the glop runs out. It's a sort of slimey grease. I tried replacing it with automotive wheel bearing grease, but that didn't have enough drag.

LIFE UPSIDE DOWN is a romantic comedy about time, distance, and the human condition. Three couples, connected by friendship, love and work, are each stuck in their respective homes in Los Angeles during the beginning of lockdown. Finally forced to face their spouses, friends, lovers, and eventually themselves head on, their lives turn slowly but surely upside-down.

One of the things our Pack does that I don't understand is when we award boys their rank, they use the parent's pin to pin it to the uniform but pin it upside down. When they do their next "good deed" then they can turn it right side up. It seems like, to me, that this process is putting an extra requirement on the boys that they don't have to do. Does anyone else do this?

Many, many years ago, when Bobcat was recognized with a round pin, the tradition was that it was pinned on upside down until you did your first good deed. I did something like opening the door for my mother and flipped it around.

I don't see it as adding to the requirements as they have earned the badge and has been presented with it. Since Mom or Dad is going to sew it on, they can be the judge if he did or not do the good turn. Does it hurt to Do a good turn daily?

Our pack did this until this year. The reason that we are stopping is because of the pin use. The parents almost never did anything with the pin except toss it in a drawer and these things are not cheap. Actually...that brings me to the actual reason for ending it...for several boys the parents just left their rank pinned on with it. We even have one boy with ALL FOUR rank badges attached with parent pins! We are hopeful that by not providing this easy out it may get a few more badges properly attached.

current one does if he's reminded. I like it and don't see it as adding to the requirements. The boy gets the badge and nobody's going around quizzing him after it's sewn on whether he did a good deed first or not.

We're asking the parent to sew on the patch, I think it's ok to ask the Scout to actually do something nice. Cub Scouts should be doing something nice to their parents' satisfaction on a pretty regular basis, anyway. I think of it more as an encouragement to do a good turn daily, and I don't really see it as adding to the requirements.

I think the most important part of this is that it leads to adults telling the boys stories of how the same thing was done when they were a Cub Scout. I actually pulled my entire Tiger den aside at the den meeting before the Pack mtg they would get their Bobcat and told them the history, tradition, and the story of when I recieved my Bobcat. We sat in a circle and it was like a campfire story. It was a great connection for them.. and they actually could see me (their adult leader that is twice their size)as a young boy with a fresh blue uniform shirt back many moons ago... and how they are continuing on the tradition.

Our pack does it too. It has no logic or policy behind it. It is a tradition going back more than a generation, since whenever I object, the answer I get from the male leaders is, "That's how it was done when I was a kid."

hello ... ... I have an .mp4 video from my phone that is upside down ... so I imported it into AE, placed it on the main composition, rotated it, and added the main composition to the render queue ...

Some languages use them upside down. Of course they think English uses
them upside . German is one that comes to mind, only because I just
worked on a PowerPoint presentation that contained German coding and I
had change everything to English.Bob

I know. But some fonts have designs that make them look "upside down", using 66 for opening rather than mirrored 99. When people use loose terminology like this, it is best to explore exactly what is being complained about.Dave

Most likely problems:
1) You have your quotes prefs set funny
2) The problem text is marked as being a different language, such as German or some such, which uses quotes in that fashion. You haven't responded to people's suggestions that (1) above could be the problem. Have you checked this?T

This gluten-free apple upside-down cake is the perfect dessert for fall. Cinnamon-kissed caramelized apples rest over a tender spiced teff flour cake. This no-frosting-required cake is just the thing to make for your holiday dessert table.

Flipping an upside-down cake is my baking equivalent to opening a gift on Christmas morning. A soft spiced teff flour cake turns over to unveil a beautiful topping of melt-in-your-mouth cinnamon-kissed caramel apples. It's simultaneously a centerpiece showstopper on the dessert table, while also super simple to make - no frosting required! This gluten-free apple upside-down cake is the perfect fall treat.

An upside-down cake is baked upside-down in the pan and then turned out while warm to reveal a beautiful topping. The presentation is half the fun, but the taste and texture are also what makes an upside-down cake stellar. A layer of fruit and sugar is arranged on the bottom with cake batter spread over top. While the cake bakes, the sugars and fruit caramelize on the bottom. While warm, the cake is flipped right-side-up to unveil the fruit sitting right on top, while the juices and caramelized sugars ever-so-slowly seep into the perfectly-baked cake below.

When making gluten-free cake, I prefer using a homemade blend of flours to enhance the flavors of the cake I'm making. This gluten-free apple upside-down cake uses a blend of oat flour, sweet rice flour, tapioca flour, and teff flour.

If you're apprehensive about buying four different flours, I understand. Here are four fall-forward recipes you can make using oat, teff, and sweet rice flour and about a billion more that use oat, tapioca, and sweet rice flour. With these four flours, you can make countless cakes and cookies this season! Additionally, each of these flours freeze well for up to 6 months. Or, find my recommendations below for substitutions if you can't find or don't have that particular flour.

For this cake, you need a cake pan with at least 2-inch high sides. With a layer of apples underneath, this cake is quite tall. As the cake batter has its initial rise, it will fill the entire 2-inch pan. As the apples cook down, they will create space so it won't overflow.

To ensure your sticky caramelized apples don't stick to the pan and get left behind when you turn out the cake, line your cake pan with a round of parchment paper. Once flipped, you can carefully peel off the parchment paper to reveal the warm tender apples.

If you wait too long to flip the cake, the caramelized sugars and fruit will begin to set up and harden, causing them to stick to the pan. Instead, let the cake cool only 5-10 minutes before flipping.

This cake is delicious served warm or after it has cooled completely. To serve warm, let it cool 30 minutes before slicing so the crumb sets up. Alternatively, you can heat fully cooled slices for 10 seconds in the microwave and serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
