Dear Willis (and others),

Willis, I am sorry to be so slow in responding to your posting here.  But I wanted to say that it was a wonderful "Christmas present," to receive such a glowing note from you!  Not only the word "Splendid," which is high praise indeed, coming from you.  And not only the brevity of your note, which did not come with multiple numbered and sub-numbered points :-) !  But the wish for joy and hope and the multi-colored Christmas greeting were very, very nice.

A very joyous and happy and blessed Christmas to you, too, Willis.  Thank you for all that you have shared with all of us this year, including in your longer, multi-numbered, multi-pointed, wonderful notes.  Knowing you and having the opportunity to be in correspondence with you is an honor, and I have learned so much from you this year.  That is a true gift and a true blessing!  Thank you!

And that goes to all the other members of this CC Open Forum too!  All the best to you at this holy and joyous time, in your ministries and in your joyous theological reflection.

Jane

Splendid, Jane.

I sent your piece to a brilliant scoffer of the Christian Faith.

YES, the Incarnation is "new news"!  Joy!  Hope!  Merry Christmas!

Grace and peace--
Willis

Subject: Advent reflection on John 1:14

Dear friends in this CC Open Forum,

I have written the attached Advent reflection for you.  I just wrote it this morning, so it's not polished, but I did write it just for you.

I wanted to share with you some of what I've been reflecting on, as I've done my PhD research in recent weeks.

And I have to admit I wanted to give us something else to talk about in this Open Forum.

This is my contribution to participating in joyful theological reflection during Advent.

Peace and good will to all,

Jane Ellingwood
