This weeks Buffalo Boss Babe is the super woman at the helm of Buffalove Development & Little Wheel Restoration Co., Bernice Radle. She is an awesome bad ass babe who runs three companies (development, management and construction) and has almost a 50% woman staff.

Buffalove Development is a small scale real estate development company focused on rehabilitating vacant and underutilized historic buildings in Buffalo and Niagara Falls, NY. There are four key principles that guide Buffalove Development's work: Preservation, Sustainability, Community & BuffaLove.

I grew up in extreme poverty in Niagara Falls and spent many summers painting houses with my dad. Both of those aspects of my life have shaped my decision to help strengthen our housing market for people like my family - the working poor. I got my first job in property management when I was 21 handling maintenance calls and worked my way up to do the largest energy efficiency retrofit project in Buffalo for Horizon Realty. Big Deal! At the age of 25, my "side hustle" Buffalove Development LLC was born. I saw the poverty, vacancy and demolitions happening around my neighborhood on the West Side and decided to do something about it! Five years later we are small but mighty - a cornucopia of companies and partnerships dedicated to trying to create sustainable housing on a private level and designed to develop, manage and construct our projects. We are 14 strong, 40 buildings strong, 3 amazing art / mural projects, 3 major development partnerships, 1 glorious community garden and are developing the first brewery in 70 years for Niagara Falls, NY!

The first direct report that I came across in my professional career was a badass brand marketer with years of experience and confidence to boot. When she entered a room, she commanded attention and people listened. Her opinion was both respected and cherished, and those who had to answer to her or those who challenged her knew they better have their sh*t together. Her reputation preceded her and I actually worked cross-functionally with her before switching departments and joining her team.

This next boss babe actively sought me out to handle marketing for her growing real estate team. She was a woman who knew what she wanted and went after it. We knew her because she helped my husband and I build our first home in St. Augustine, sell it a few years later, and buy another home at the beach. She was such a successful realtor that she started coaching other realtors on how to be more successful. It was so amazing to work for her because she is such a driven person she just exudes purpose and motivation. She pushed me to always have my goals top of mind in every action and every thought as I went about my entire day.

My girlfriend, Sam and I were talking over brunch (in our workout clothes, not working out) about how she bought all of these gorgeous clothes and had absolutely nothing to wear them too. A serious tragedy.

After our conversation, I started researching successful people and their habits, routines and how the hell they stay on track. One of the most popular responses was to dress like a boss babe or dress for the job you want. Same diff.
