Pros and Cons of using JNC (formerly JPyang) library

I would like to hear your experience with using the JNC library to access CDB:

 

What disadvantages / problems have you encountered with using the open-source JNC library?

What significant benefits would one lose by transitioning from direct CDB access to communicating through the netconf protocol?
