Ultimate Apocalypse is a mod for Dawn of War Soulstorm, which aims to create the most diverse possible unit and faction selection within the confines of the original DOW engine. We strive to create the most engaging and balanced Warhammer 40,000 game that we can, without sacrificing the fun factor. From hordes of Orks to the towering Titans, you can always find a new way to play UA. We invite all of you to join us on our Discord server to keep up with the development of the mod!
Now launch the LAA Patch executable and navigate to your Soulstorm.exe file and patch it. As soon as that's done click "Another file" and search for the GraphicsConfig.exe file and patch that one too!
If have previously used the NTCore 2.0 executable you must restore the original soulstorm.exe before applying the LAA Patch, else it won't work in multiplayer! If you have your Soulstorm installed on STEAM do the following:
Everytime SEGA updates Soulstorm (Which shouldn't be frequently but still) the creator of the NTCore has to make a new version of the Soulstorm.exe or you'll basically downgrade your sousltorm.exe everytime you install NTCore 2.0
The LAA Patach on the other hand does not completely replace your EXE but just applies the large adress flag. So everytime Soulstorm gets an update you only have to reapply the LAA Patch which preserves the build, instead of downgrading everything.
If you have previously used NT Core 2.0, please use the verify game cache on steam to refresh your files and apply the LAA Patch then. Do not apply the LAA Patch over the NTCore EXE or you'll only patch a downgraded EXE and you won't be able to see multiplayer lobbies of properly patched games.
Veryfy Game Cache refreshes your files if they don't match with the Database. Because NTCore 2.0 contains two files STEAM should've downloaded 2 files at least. So that 3rd might've been some other modified/missing files. All should be good now ^^.
Unfortunately no since SEGA doesn't offer patches like it does in STEAM. Fortunately, for the last many years, Steam's DoW1 SS' updates are almost entirely focused on MP patches and NOT on code or art so thankfully it does not complicate my AI work which solely is based on the CD/DVD version of old.
Interesting.. now does it work with a computer w/o a CD/DVD drive? For a year now I had to ditch such drives as newer laptops do not come with those anymore so curious if it will work without one? Have to test that.
Still, more available RAM *does not* translate to better performance. It "just" raises the limit of how much stuff (read: large armies with fancy models & textures) you can do in DoW at the same time.
From a technical standpoint, I don't see why it wouldn't work. However we can't exactly officially endorse piracy, SEGA would have our ***** served on a plate and our heads on spikes or on realistic terms, UA shut down and team members sued for a redonkulous amount of money, effectively ruining our lives.
Plus, Steam's holiday sale is blooming atm, even if somehow a 50% discount on Soulstorm isn't enough, chances are it'll get an even bigger discount before the sale's over.
There's practically no excuse to not buy it.
