I'm working on getting videos of the 45 talks on https://icfp20.sigplan.org/track/icfp-2020-papers#program uploaded to YouTube, and then I will want to add a link from each researchr talk page to the corresponding video on YouTube.  Is there any better "API" to add the links than to poke around in my browser's developer tools to figure out what HTTP requests I need to send to emulate what the UI does and then write a script to send the requests, dealing with the XSRF token and so forth?

You can take this as an expression of interest in a real API or at least a feature to import data from a format such as CSV.

Thanks,
Matt

Dear Matt,

No API at the moment. CSV import or something similar might be an interesting feature to add (using title similarity or event id/paper id's to match a talk).
For now I can only suggest using the Event/Bulk Tools, where you can edit a single field for all events within a track:

If you want to do something programmatic, the embed code field scans for the `src="youtube_video_url_here"`- pattern.

Kind regards,
Elmer

Does this let us specify a different value for each event?  If not, I don't think it helps us at all.  If the software let us edit an existing media object, then we could at least add a "template" YouTube embed entry to all talks and then edit each talk individually and paste in the correct URL.  But currently, it looks like if we add an object this way, we can't edit it without deleting and re-adding it.

If you want to do something programmatic, the embed code field scans for the `src="youtube_video_url_here"`- pattern.

Good to know, but that is unrelated to the question of how to get the embed code saved to the site in the first place.

Hi Matt,

Please have a look at the bulk tools page https://icfp20.sigplan.org/manageEvents/icfp-2020-papers#Event-Bulk-Tools. It lets you edit the media attachments of each individual ICFP talk on a single page. Of course, you need to copy paste the youtube embed code, but you will need to do with any approach, it seems to me.
