This scene in particular made me happy, I appreciate when film makers take care of the facts like the bus number 85 which goes from Anand Vihar to Punjabi Bagh which is still the same route unless DTC changed it. Raja Bundela was suggesting to Farooq to take 85 number bus :). He acted in lot of movies in 80s and early 90s but I haven't seen him lately in movies.
This movie is not like a typical bollywood movie, I think there were couple of songs but it felt very close to reality. Most of the movies in 80s, 90s and 2000s were over the top, it was only in 2010s when films started to become true reflection of the society. I don't mind over the top movies but there should be a balance. I personally prefer movies that I can relate to. The movie also has Ravi Baswani and plenty of other actors that I am sure you will remember from Doordarshan days. The movie has reference to theatre scene in Delhi. I think some parts were shot in NSD as well, I am not sure about it. I quite like the fact that Delhi has a good theatre culture. I have seen few plays long back and I really enjoyed them. It is really hard to act in front of hundreds of people, I have no idea how they can remember long dialogues. Incredible.

Ab Aayega Mazaa was the directorial debut of Pankuj Parashar, who later on directed blockbusters like Chaalbaaz(1989) and Jalwa(1987) and another rare gem Peecha Karo(1985).It was produced by television actors Alok Nath and Girija Shankar and was made on a shoestring budget.It is a typical romantic comedy,without being too mushy.I liked it more because the whole film has been shot in Delhi,where I have spent six eventful years of my life.
The camerawork, by A.K. Bir is another star of the film. Delhi in winter looks immensely attractive.and the cameraman has fully utilized its charm.This was also the debut film of Anand Milind ,and three songs stand out, my favourite among them is jane anjaane .
The director, who is also the scriptwriter, blends some stereotypical Delhi characters like the streetsmart Ad guy, the snobbish rich father, over-concerned auntyjis,Jat servants wearing half sleeves and balaclavas, and scooter riding office goers effortlessly into the screenplay. His direction is zany and weird,but it is intentional and therefore is enjoyable. I just wished that the guruji angle was not there. In a romantic film when miya biwi are raazi,kya kar rahen hain yeh guruji??!!
This film suffered from a severe Deepti Naval deficiency. There was so much potential and the unhinged vibe was consistently there (I'm saying this in a good way, of course) but the pacing was really awful and it seemed like film bit off more than it could chew even though it really hadn't. But watching Farooq Sheikh in such films is a treat in itself, so not gonna complain too much.

On March 23, 2018 Ulka Anjaria and Jonathan Anjaria hosted an interdisciplinary conference at Brandeis on the topic of fun, pleasure and play in India. "Mazaa," which is the word for fun in Hindi/Urdu, was meant to move away from the view that sports, games or popular literature is only an escape from reality or a distraction from real world issues. In search of preconceived ideas of what is politically or socially significant, we often ignore the books people enjoy, the films they watch, the sports they play and the music they listen to. But what are fun and pleasure, what do they do and how do they produce the world around us? How can we approach these topics without taking the fun and pleasure away from them? What is the role of the critic in understanding fun and pleasure? With 14 participants from Brandeis and other universities, the conference included three panels and exciting discussions throughout. The organizers edited a special issue of the journal South Asia: A Journal of South Asian Studies, on the topic of mazaa.
