Select your operating system from the drop-down menu to see the list of drivers supported by the selected operating system. You can select your version to download and manually install the driver from the page linked in the tables below.
Note that modinfo works on filenames and aliases, not on module names. The majority of the modules will have the same name for the module name and filename, but there are exceptions. One of them is nvidia.
When loaded, the command lsmod will show the nvidia module as loaded. modinfo nvidia will error out. Why? Because there is no module named "nvidia", it's just an alias. To resolve the alias you can use modprobe --resolve-alias nvidia. Or to get the whole modinfo in one command:
and the available sisfb kernel module is not the loaded driver, because lsmod grep sisfb has no output (sisfb is blacklisted). In this case also sudo lshw -c video grep Konfiguration does not work. The output is:
-First I tried automatically updating my drivers, but when I scanned I got the message: A customized computer manufacturer driver is installed on your computer. The Intel Driver Update Utility is not able to update the driver. Installing a generic Intel driver instead of the costumized computer manufacturer driver may cause techincal issues.Contact your computer manufacturer for the latest driver for your computer.
-So I decided I would try and download a generic driver, but I can't find one that works. I went to the downloadcenter. Select a product > Grapic drivers > I couldn't find my processor graphics in the list you can choose from there. So I decided I would just download the most populair ones, but they all gave me the error of my system not meeting the minimum requirements to run the software.

My video editing program is asking to update my driver , but I can not find the Intel HD Graphics 5500 in the list of driver updates, they all seem to have names and generations and such , but not any thing like 5500.
The standard Intel driver is a built-in part of 1) the kernel, 2) the Mesa 3D graphics library. Therefore it does not have its own versioning; as long as you have the latest kernel and Mesa, you have the latest Intel driver as well.
Within Xorg, interfacing with the Intel driver might be handled by the xserver-xorg-video-intel module. Again, use dpkg -l to check its version (and note that the package might not be present, in which case Xorg accesses the same Intel driver via the "modesetting" interface).

To install the repositories.intel.com/graphics package repository, add thefollowing to your Ubuntu installation. Prior to copy/pasting to your console, you may want to run sudo ls and enter your password to prevent the commandsfrom being swallowed by the sudo password prompt:
The above will make sure your system has gpg-agent and wget installed. It willthen download and install the public key used to verify the integrityof the package repository. Finally, it adds therepositories.intel.com/graphics repository to the system.
If you have enabled Secure Boot in the BIOS, you might get the prompt during the reboot. Please make sure you choose Enroll MOK to make the new kernel to be effective.
In order to access GPU capabilities, a user needs to have the correctpermissions on system. The following will list the group assigned ownershipof the render nodes, and list the groups the active user is a member of:
On the other hand, your Radeon GPU is now rather "old" - I note there has been no updated driver for it since a beta release in January 2016. Hence, the performance figures you are seeing are pretty much what I would expect.
But, as @johnebaker wrote, the most critical factor for performance in MEP is the CPU and yours is more than adequate for successful operation of the software since it includes "Intel HD Graphics 630".
1 x 250GB Evo 970 NVMe: drive for C: drive backup 1 x 1TB Sabrent NVMe drive for Operating System / Programs only. 1X WD BLACK 1TB internal SATA 7,200rpm hard drives.1 for internal projects, 1 for Library clips/sounds/music/stills./backup of working projects. 1x500GB SSD current project only drive, 2x WD RED 2TB drives for latest footage storage. Total 21TB of 8 external WD drives for backup.
Hi @emmrecs you are correct, my connected GPU may be old. I got it from a drawer at my office. so are you saying my builtin Graphics processor (i7- 7700) is superior to the connected GPU (AMD Radeon HD 5450)?
My ultimate intention to avoid unstable situation when I use purchased 4K stock videos. Also to reduce the time to Export to MP4. Magix is always making issues when I use 4k videos. either it will not show in Magix video monitor (blanc) even I enable proxy files creation. All the full HD videos in the same project file work without any issues. So I have to convert the videos to full HD to make it compatible with Magix.
If you have single monitor it must be connected to the Intel onboard GPU for it to be active. To ensure both GPUs are active - if the monitor has 2 or more inputs then the second one can be connected to the AMD - as far as the GPUs are concerned there is a monitor attached to each one, otherwise you need a Monitor emulator commonly known as a Headless Ghost to plugin to the GPU with no monitor connected.
You should not be having these issues at all with 4K if the source video is a standard H.264 .MP4 format. If it is not then please analyse the purchased clips with Media Info app and copy and paste the information from the Text View into your post.
You appear to be on a several versions old graphics driver. Don't rely on windows to find the latest one - go to Intel's website and download from there - unless your PC is a branded machine in which case go to the PC manufacturers site for their latest recommended driver as these often contain customisations for your machine.
Is your 4K video from a cell phone that is recording at a variable frame rate? this is known to cause issues with stuttering, blank preview and sound sync. If so you will need to convert it to constant frame rate with a transcoding progam like Handbrake before importing to MEP. Check the files properties with Media Info app and paste text view back here.
@Scenestealer @CubeAce I updated the Intel HD 630 driver from the intel website (screenshot attached) just after the above video but the result was the same when I rerun the Project file. I use Handbrake very much for non-compatible videos, Handbrake is very useful but it has few issues like it will remove the transparency of video and give a black background.it reduces the size considerably even we choose Production max with the same source video spec. i"m afraid it may spoil the quality of my purchased stock videos.
That your project seems to be residing on the C: drive as I see no other disc activity, so you are reading the files from the C: drive as well as running MEP and Windows. That's a lot of work and a potential bottleneck.
