Hi All,

I came concourseDB while looking for opensource databases currently in development. I am very much willing to countribute to Concourse. I am installing Concourse right now. For contribution I did went through ideas page(https://cinchapi.atlassian.net/wiki/display/CON/Project+Ideas) and roadmap page(https://cinchapi.atlassian.net/wiki/display/CON/Roadmap).

So what's the difference between two. Does all those idea present in ideas page currently developed or are in development ?

what are the future developments going in Concourse ? Currently, I can see only the version released with updates that released with each version.

Let me know, where I can contribute. My competency is in java, python,HTML  javascript is intermediate.

Thanks,
Nitesh

Hi Nitesh,

Sorry for my delayed response.

Glad you're interested in Concourse! We're definitely excited about you joining the community. The items on the Roadmap are things that are planned and scoped whereas those on the "Project Ideas" page are things we'd like to see developed but don't currently have plans for.

In terms of development, we're working on version 0.5.0 which is going to bring A LOT of performance improvements, a REST API, and native client drivers for Python, Ruby and PHP. The only thing holding up the release is writing all the documentation for the REST API and client drivers, but I expect that to be done within the next month.

0.5.0 was originally supposed to come out much earlier, but it got delayed because I've concurrently been doing some development for 0.6.0, which will bring support for distributed clusters. That is going to be a BIG release. There is still a lot of work left to do, but it should come out fairly early in 2016 as opposed to later since there is a lot of work already done towards it.

For where you can contribute, take a look at any of the open issues and find one to tackle. Anything that is unassigned or assigned to me is something you can take on. We are transitioning away from Jira, but there are also some issues that are still open there you can tackle: https://cinchapi.atlassian.net/issues/?filter=10402

Let me know if you have questions or suggestions.

Cheers,
Jeff

Hi Jeff,

Thanks for the Reply.I will be very happy to help.

So i was looking at this issue "Test php-driver against PHP 5.6+". This may be trivial question for you. So let me just tell you what I understood in this. We have to set up vagrant box with php5.6 installed in it and had to test whether concourse server is working in this environment or not. Right ?

If this is the case,Then also let me know how to run unit test?. I haven't looked at code yet.

Thanks,
Nitesh Bhutani

Yep, thats correct.

You can run the PHP driver unit tests by doing

$ cd concourse-driver-php
$ ./phake test
