********** NEWSGROUP CHARTER **********
concordia.announce Concordia University announcements. (Moderated)

Welcome to Concordia University's moderated announcements newsgroup.
It is intended to be read by everyone on the net at Concordia, although
nobody is forced to subscribe. To post to concordia.announce, send
mail to the moderator at "concordia...@concordia.ca", or simply
post your article in the normal way: most newsreaders will
automatically mail to the moderator anything posted instead of
attempting to post it directly. If the message is appropriate, it will
be posted by the moderator; if not, the moderator will suggest a more
appropriate place to post it or a better way to go about the same
goal.

Discussions in concordia.announce are explicitly forbidden (indeed,
followups will be redirected to other newsgroups), and the volume of
traffic will be kept low enough to keep people from feeling a need to
unsubscribe. As time goes on, the moderators will develop a keyword
system to identify postings of various types, so that users can use
killfiles and scorefiles (where their newsreader permits) to select
postings. For example:

Subject: PRESS: Langley residences to close down
Subject: COMPUTER: Vax2 unavailable Friday the 13th
Subject: COMPUTER: FAQ: how to pick a good password
Subject: CULTURE: Homecoming schedule of events
Subject: CULTURE: pointer to concerts mailing list
Subject: LECTURE: Science College presents Albert Einstein
Subject: PRESS: Newsmaster denies singing while Newsflash burned
Subject: LECTURE: M.Sc. Thesis defence of J.A.Student

Submitters are asked to minimize the moderator's workload by using
appropriate keywords and titles, and by formatting their text
appropriately (less than 80 columns wide, and no graphics characters).
The moderator will try to moderate unintrusively, but may touch up
headers. The moderator will try to post anything that falls within the
charter of this group; when an article is rejected, the moderator will
send a note to the author briefly stating why. Every attempt will be
made to process submissions in a timely manner; however, please wait two
business days before enquiring about a posting which you believe to have
been lost.
